as i said, a few days ago i took my callipers off to do a refurb...i took them off soaked them in hot water mixed with fairy to loosen the dirt off. What i noticed was that the callipers had no laquer on them, maybe due to the heat that goes through them but anyway after cleaning them i was not too fond of the red paint match, so instead just laquered them using high temp paint :D
this shows how dirty they were, i soaked them both, rubbed the dirt off one....

Stage 2 hybrid turbo!! the difference...the compressor wheel is originally 49mm, the hybrid stage 2 is a SAAB blade, and after the turbo has been machined its a 59mm blade which its been replaced with! they change other internals too but mainly the whole thing is machined out. heres some pictures...

im surprised at how dirty you let your brakes get.
i took my wheels off to give mine a good clean this year will do the same next year it makes a big difference to stay ontop of the filth and keeping them waxed makes them so much easyier to clean.
yours are looking spot on now they have had a clean and some laquer.

good thread,

My brakes are like yours, they use shite lacquer on the AP's and they just go off.

So mine too are coming off when i do the discs and stuff, i'm sending mine off to be repainted and refurbed

one thing i found round the ring was how bad my brakes were ( compared to what i am used to) so those discs and pads you got, how mucha nd where from.

Also how much is the hybrid turbo and is it going to make the car a pig to drive????

enjoying the thread as once my warranty is over next ocober i will be going hybrid i think.

Let me know what clutch you're going for! I've got the helix setup but I'd go for a higher torque rating if I were you! If there is such thing. The helix I've got isn't all it's cracked up to be....

nice car i like what you've done.
just wondering which company you got the hybrid from as am looking to get 1 the start of next year?
if your wanting to get the forge silicon pipes i would put my name down for a set.

I know, i was surprised at how dirty they were. From now on every few months will take them off to give them a good clean and maybe sand and lacquer them once more to make sure it’s nice and even.
Definitely worth cleaning and putting on some lacquer...well recommended

Thanks bud. I think next time i take them off i'll do a proper refurb, spend a whole day on them...clean and sand them right down and then paint them :)
The pads (ferodo ds2500) cost about £95 and the discs (Brembo Max) cost about £135. i still have a good bit left on my discs and pads, so i'll run them right down and then change over to my new ones.
The hybrid does not cost much, couple hundred i think. My entire turbo went so i got a new one which came with hybrid treatment :D the car will not be a pig to drive, really depends on what clutch and what sort of map your running.
cant say how the hybrid is yet because i still have not finished the car, will do in a few days

I think I know what I am doing in terms of clutch...new standard SACHS DMF, standard clutch cover, helix paddle clutch plate and new slave cylinder! Nobody has done it I don’t think but theoretically it should work and will be good for around 390lb.ft!
Are you running organic or paddle clutch, and SMF?

Like what you've done let us no how you get on with hybrid

thanks bud, will get pics up of front/rear bumpers now that me n my mate have finished painting them

Awesome Gti do them, brand-new turbo with hybrid treatment for £1095 all in or + VAT not sure. I got mine from turbo centre UK, great guys there.
I do want to get silicone hoses but I think it’s going to work out too expensive. It’s because we have so many metal ends which join onto other pipe work. Worth £400 for a set? Maybe more?
