think the autoleads adapoer leads allow for fitment in only one direction, and most speakers come with two different sized spade connectors to try avoid polarity change.

sorry my bad, i have spades on leads but may have made them myself from other spares i had. but even so do the speakers not have different size connectors, maybe not them all though?

guys, quick question - i have fitted the mk4 adaptors , the lead that connects to the speaker where does it fit on to the speaker(i dont have them yet) top middle or bottom? reason being on the adaptor i hav cut a small channel so the the feed cable lies in the adaptor rather than the adaptor lying on it the feed cable, make sense?

would depend on if you fit the speakers upsidedown? i know they round but if you need to mount the connection close to the connectr, i.e. maybe not enough length to reach bottom of the speakr just turn speaker 90degrees and mount or however much needed. hope makes sense, did to me???

Must have been my my clear original instructions from 2005 then :).

On this polarity thing, 0.5 litre of Create house wine down, the penny dropped, it's between the adaptor leads and the speaker leads before the Infinity crossover why I say watch polarity. Anybody not into speakers could think it didn't matter but it does.

INFINITY KAPPA 652.7i, 6.5-inch 225W other than them being 1cm bigger? what affect would it have on the current install?

I think and part guess and I don't want to be put in a corner etc etc it's related to what Stuart posted on page 3, the link to the item, although the product code is different and what he found when he came to install them in a Leon with the speaker adapter kit for the Golf IV

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=22421

namely you have to cut more off the adaptor kit to get it to fit in the door else you can't get the grill back on. I think that's basically it. Loadswine fitted the updated speaker to the one that I fitted in 2005 and other people have fitted that one fine.... this other one I believe is a bigger beast... err no... more googles you are fine with the 652.7i they are the updated ones that people are fitting fine, the fancy ones that Stuart fitted needed the chopping up of more of the tube. You just have to cut the lip off the adaptor kit so it fits flush.

See Loadswine pictures on

Going to buy four of these and the adapters tomorrow. I love the car but miss the great Sony branded system that was in my Focus. This should even the balance nicely :D

Anyone from/near Manchester want to help me out with this when it all arrives? Will trade fuel costs & a pint/pub lunch? :D

I have changed the fronts for the Infinity Kappas and was wondering if anyone who had done the rears at a later date had noticed any further improvement in the sound quality?? i.e. is it worth paying for another set for the rear???

I would also be very interested to hear answers to Rob's question about difference in quality between Infinity speakers in the front versus all four...

I had a look on ebay and found these results for Infinity 6.5 speakers:

6512si (£43.99)
KAPPA 62.7i (£47.49)
KAPPA 652.7i (£62.29)
REFERENCE 6012i (£82.95)

Can anyone recommend any particular model (I am assuming that the more the money the better the speaker, but that even the cheapest Infinity is good)...

Hello Guys,

To save some work cutting in the speaker adaptors I guess it would be an idea just to use these adaptors from Blaupunkt!!

Type number is: 7606500150001

They can be found via the car-configurator here: http://carconf.blaupunkt.com/default.asp?lang=en

As the person who pionered this adaptioin for the Altea, yes it does make a difference onnce the rears are changed, two, you are open to buy that part but since cutting off the lip doesn't take too much effort. I was tricked by sloppy fiction from Pioneer first of all with a kit that worked for the Altea, which was vapour ware.... you do get the plug in leads if you go for the hacksaw method else you would be cutting the leads or buying your own leads with VW clip, so the existing solution is neat :).
