Dearest Tell,

As said above. I'm out the the discussion with you, since you changed the focus to your non serious attacks on my person.

And for your info (since you question it). I own my Cupra. It is paid cash. The hifi I'm doing in it will be presented, but only when I'm ready with the trunk.

The Altea FR TDI is a company car. As it is a leasing car there will be a limited hifi install in it - all with std. components that can be installed and taken out in 2½ year when the car goes back.

For other questions regarding sound in, or modification of the MK 2 Leon I'm more than willing to help.

the autoleads ones are the correct ones, they look big but fit fine once you lop the trim bit off. which reminds me to finish the rear speakers off to so better go and order some.

Correct but with the disinformation that has been abounding on this thread recently I'm not sure what people are purchasing these days. We know that the autoleads ones fit with the hacksaw method and indeed come with leads thrown in which avoids cutting the car leads. I gave a handy ABC guide to fitting them thanks to Paul helping me out with how to disconnect the tweeters. What internet is for :).

My moment of truth was coming back from Luxembourg with the original speakers in listening to the Salif Keita Remixes from Moffou CD which I'd bought, which sounded dreadful, since the Phillips speakers couldn't handle the dynamic range and it de solved into mush. With the Infinity ones and original tweeters disabled everything was how it should be in a club mix.

Funny that Seat continue to put in the same crap speakers in both the Altea and Leon whilst the headend is perfect. This was something that Altea owners remarked on in 2004 that the Skoda sound system was better....

These adaptors didn't need any cutting :p:D, nothing done to them at all, they fitted a treat :D And the leads they come with are definately handy but could have done with a pair for the tweeters also as i ended up cutting that off that standard tweeter to use
All is well with them anyway but i think i'll be siliconing them on if peeps have issues with rattling, would that be a good idea?

Were they the SAK-3103 ?.... if they were something else then may be they didn't need cutting. With the Altea if you try to bolt them in without cutting they won't bed down since they are stuck up and you won't get the grill on the front either.

Tried it, been there, before I called in my brother with the hacksaw and gave him a little job....

That may be why they vibrate if they are not bedded down.... just a thought.

Apparently the standard component setup in the Leon is all wired without a crossover so not so good.

Edd

They do have a crossover of sorts.

Have taken a couple of pics which I will upload later after I do the rears, which will hopefully re-enforce the bass response which is not quite where I would like it.
Believe me 8 x crap = very crap, 4 x Infitiy = soooooo much better!
Edd

Infinity don't really do bass, they are designed to be used with a sub.

The post "That one amuses.... but any how"

Wasn't sure if that was meant to imply that they are capable of outputting a reasonable amount of bass.

Whats being said is that they not soley for use with a sub, and do they job very well in all cars that have featured in this thread. Put out a great all round sound, not just bass.
