because that is what jabba sent me to show there IHI kit vs BDMS GT2871r kit

your rite there is no info on it they must of just cut it off lol

because I asked them for a GT28 kit priced up

I can assure you the GT2871 I ran on the octy just before matt got it, was way more power than the VF34's I also know very well.

For the graph to show it being same top end is just not how it is, OR capable of.

VF34 WILL outspool the gt2871 tho, even on the smaller 0.6 housing.. but top end sustained pull is GT2871 all day long.

:D

The graph for my small GT2860 was much better than that Jabba 'mapped' GT2871. I had better bhp and torque. From memory that TT had piper cams (customer supplied a built head), A ported TB (badly ported, also supplied). The car originally had a non revo map too. It didnt drive that nicely. Its not a bad advert at all. Just shows that its mapped badly and was not mapped by us (we use revo maps and get amazing results). Just listen to what Bill is saying. We can both quote our own experiences on this.

The turbo fitted to that car if running decent boost can run over 400bhp and have good spool if mapped correctly. I will shut up now. :(

I don't think you can run a GT2871r on 1.8t engine and get 400+bhp with out doing alot to the engine
some people have trouble getting 400+ with a gt30

whats that owens development IHI turbo like? that gismo x has? hes verry happy with it
think its like a gt30 bit with a IHI flange?

ps. sorry to say that rude word at the end lol

well no of course you cant get 400bhp without doing a lot to the engine, it requires a full rebuild, rods, valves, springs etc, but 400bhp from a gt2871r is capable

I have not seen issues with people running 400bhp+ with a gt30.....if they do, clearly it has not been setup right or the right components used (the turbo not being at fault at all in this instance)

the owens one is a decent unit and comes in different flavours, its IHI flanged which is restricting the manifold choice down somewhat, and underslung you will need to remove some bits off the block & head with the grinder to clear the comp housing. on 4wd you may also need to remove material off the transferbox casing also.. to allow it to fit

its a mix of mitsi and garrett parts i believe in owens exhaust housing.. garrett comp wheels. not dissimilar to my fp green unit, which went on to produce 485bhp from 2.2bar for me. obviously internals are mandatory for these levels

The Owens hybrid for the evo on standard manifold is truly aweful!
The fp green for the evo is poor.
My personal opinion is that you should use a decent manifold and correctly spec'd turbo.

Hi Steve,
As you know mate there is no such thing as a free lunch! Turbo manufactors like to quote the comp wheel flow capacity . There needs to be the right mix between the two comp and turbine . Steve what mani and flange is your car running?

JBS mani, ihi flange,my turbos at owens having a bigger hotside fitted as the blouch one only used a small tdo5 7cm one matched to a 52lb/min comp wheel!having a garrett .82a/r fitted so hopefully it should be a better match now.

We use a garrett .82 housing on our gt30r tubbies on a 2l. I take it they are adapting it for ihi fitment instead of the standard t3 flange. Might be a little laggy on a 1.8 but you shouldn't have any surge issues.

Hey
What injectors do you recommend 630cc true siemens deka or Bosh 550cc w/ harness or others?

Regards

I am on my second GT2871R now, 1 on the ibiza and 1 on the octy i have now, its a great unit, power is very very strong and gives even the big octavia estate 4x4 a real hard kick up the arse, an launches it forward at a ridiculous rate. :)

have you had the ibiza or octavia on the rolling rd? would like to see a GT2871R graph.
is the octy the car that bill built?

No dont have any graph's now.

The octy was built originally by JBS back in 06 i think, but bill put the GT2871R on it. Its defo one of my favourite all round blowers for road use.

Octavia really does properly shift.

I did not build the Octy.. replaced bits which did'nt work well or broke on me, thats all.

The GT2871 I put on it was a much nicer drive than the thing which was on it before. way to much lag previously, which ruined an otherwise pretty ok package. I just could'nt live with its power delivery personally, so replaced the turbo for a small, and 'on paper' less powerful one......... and guess what..... it went faster.. Wider power spread & delivery. Its not all about claimed headline figures...... road cars, traffic, response and sustained power delivery made for a much easier & enjoyable driving experience.

what turbo kit was on it before?

did you put on the .64 housing and do they make alot of difference?

it was a gt3071 but had a larger hotside of 0.86 which made it laggy. also had some small cracks on the wastegate which may have not been helping matters. It did'nt spool fully until 5krpm and onyl revved to 7300rpm which is a very limited power band, and between gears it fell off boost... so accelerate wait wait wait, WOOSH, gearchange, wait wait WOOSH, gearchange, wait wait WOOSH.... It was more than tiresome on a road car I can tell you. Intolerable to the point I had to buy a smaller turbo & change it over. afterwards it was a much nicer drive.

Before 1st gear would out accelerate the turbos ability to spool, so you never actually got boost before you revved out.. after it would light up all 4 wheels in 1st and 2nd gears when provoked.

was it as laggy as this one Bill?
