Worse according to what Bill said. Full boost at 5.5K

But saying that, the exhaust housing on it is badly cracked, and on IHI's i have experienced a cracked housing makes a big difference.

So it was probably cracked when Bill bought the car.

Anyone considering a turbo option should also consider the shape of the graph rather than just peak figures. That doesn't mean just if it's quicker to spool also the useable powerband .

What sort of graph should I get when I stick the gt2817r on my BAM?

I'm contemplating geting a AGU head or Porting my BAM head or even Porting a AGU head or is that a bit extreme?

there wont be any 'preset' graph so to speak with gt2871, but with any decent mapper working on this unit will try and get a half decent spool and also ensuring the power band has a wide spread with power holding to the red line

There are some graphs on vwvortex.com but it's subject to so many other factors. Also power figures are different over there.

Saying that seem the GT2871 full spools about 4500rpm with the .86 housing and about 3500-3800 with a smaller exhaust a/r.

Good turbo, I'd have it in a blink for a road car.

Bill, I remember you asking this same question on there a while back, but that was with an 83mm bore I think?

i looked at an octavia log and it was >1bar at 3700rpm on the gt2871.
that is on an 83mm bore motor tho

I think i've stated before my ihi vf34 on my old 1.8t spools about the same as a gt3076R 0.82 on a 2L!!
My 16G6 has no lag whatsoever.

that kit is'nt the rhd one
IanB runs the rhd one which has tubular manifold not cast one like that picture

it's also the gt28rs kit, which will yield around 360bhp (if it is the gt2860rs...less if it is actually the gt28rs), possibly more but that is pushing it a bit on that turbo

Good kit that APR setup. Easily possible to fit a GT2781 to that also for an upgrade.

very true.....but it does not even mention internals are needed as part of that package, unless pegged at around 330bhp

they claim it makes 383bhp, which I am not doubting at all, but I think it would be better that if they make this power statement then they need to mention internals are required for those sort of power levels

i always thought a gt28rs was a gt2860??
Either way it won't make much more than 340-350bhp.

no you are right....could have sworn I had seen two different turbo's, one GT28RS and one GT2860rs....and if you google it, some sites just state it is a GT28RS (and dont refer to it as also a GT2860RS)....and in the same search menu it shows GT28RS AKA GT2860RS from the ATP site.....

The graph of Ian's APR stg III golf taken from the UKmkIV's vs SCN rolling road day:

bartlett.jpg

350BHP and peak torque is at 4000rpm which aint bad - mine is more like 4500

Whats the strongest 20v T engine? AGU ,BAM etc?
I know the AGU has the big ports but what about rods and crankshaft bearings etc?
