I used too work with stainless steel mate,i also made some old dumb bells out of it, they was really heavy lol

I had 6 shafts droped off today that a local company made up for me (25x300mm). All came wrapped in bubble wrap and looked like a light little package. I got to reception to collect them and asked the receptionist to pass me them and she couldn't even lift it off the desk

am im right in thinking the first picture of the threaded rod its quite short but then when its complete its longer is that the same peice of metal or is it just an optical illusion thats making it appear longer when complete?
