Hi all,
Just a couple of quick questions concerning my TDI Sport. I've searched the forums and know the part numbers for a new gear knob (5P1064321A), door lock pins (6L0099003), vent surrounds (6L0072300A), sport dials etc.

Is it easy to change the door lock pins in Mk4 Ibiza? How to do it? I've got central locking but no alarms installed.

Apparently when changing the gear knob there is an "easily breaking" ring of sorts? Should I buy one beforehand in case it breaks? Part number?

Sorry if the questions are dumb ;) but I'd like to know these things before breaking anything.

Cheers,
Miika

gear knob is dead simple I did mine in bout 10mins. As for door pins I had a look at mine other day and tried unscrewing em they wouldnt budge, but some people dont even have them on their mk4! Was thinking about shortening mine to go flush as they do nothing anyway u cant unlock the car with them.

So you managed to swap in the new knob without any damage? Did you use any specific instructions (url?)? May I ask where you bought the knob from ?-)

It'd be cool to have silvery door lock pins though ;)

bought the sport one straight off seat, pushed the gear surround forward undid the clip the put new one on, squeesed clip. job done let me knoe if you managed to get em off. Honestly gear knob is dead easy. Dont know what damamge you could do replacing the gear knob really its pretty baisic

OK, cheers mate, will try it out once I get the replacement knob (will take some time).

Anyone who has replaced the door lock pins? Do I have to remove the door card first?

Apparently the silvery vent surrounds are a pain to change as well.

it would be a lot easier to take the door card off to remove door pins.
why not buy the new covers like on the new ones with no pins in?

So what you are saying is that to replace the door pins requires door card removal?
What is the mechanism attaching the pin?

to replace the pins you might get the whole rod and pin if so door card and inner pannel will need removing AFAIK or the pin will unscrew but is gonna be dead tight! take your time on the chrome vents as the :w4nk: that had my car before me changed them and was obviously blind how he fitted them! might want a new gear knob soon mines kinda like wearing out :p

seat sport one nice cold in the morning though.
Reminds me of the aluminium knob I had in my previous car (a Puma). Imagine -15 degrees Celsius and no gloves on ;)

To sum up, I can just try to unscrew the pins with help of pliers, and if I get something else out as well, I'll have to open the door card?

Can you also point me to some instructions on how to insert new dials? I know there are kmh sports dials for the Ibiza, so instructions would be nice. I have 6 gauges in the dash board, so hopefully I'll get 6 new discs as well..

Cheers,
Miika

I got an 02 plate ibiza and my mate accidently pulled the door pin out order to try and open the door!?.............but i noticed they were screw-ons. So managed to screw mine back on!

According to Elsawin the door lock pins should be removed by turning the small bumps that point towards the side windows towards the front of the car.. They sure are damn tight though (and haven't really tried). So the pin on the left hand door should be turned clockwise etc.

On a side note here are two pictures of the inside of my beez (yea notice the gear knob). The white dials are available in mph also btw.
