Still sounds like you are in two minds Martin.

I REALLY don't want to, she is too good for anyone else ;)

I've just spent an absolute FORTUNE on her

Oh really what you getting next mate , when are ur lights going for sale :)

I'll pop the lights in the for sale section today at some point.

As for what next, looks like it'll be worth about a grand and be from the 80's I'm not sure yet, but I just need something cheaper to run, maybe a golf or a jetta but I do kinda fancy something RWD and a bit Jap, who knows, we will see.

no mate, something with a 1.6 litre NA engine from the 80's is going to be about half the price for petrol, tax, tyres, brakes, not to mention insurance.

Then there's the 7 grand I get from selling this and buying a £1000 car...

Believe me, I've put enough thought into it, I REALLY don't want to do it as I love the car dearly.

I guess even I have to grow up at some point

Ahhh ok, I was thinking more along the lines of 180/200sx. I'm not even sure what Jap cars were RWD with small engines back then, the Trueno springs to mind but maybe not for £1000.

You're only as old as you feel dude but if this feels the right decision for you then you have to go with it.

Maz, Don't go! Just drive a little slower! :p or get a TDi, and swap everything over. it won't be the same, but it's be a damn site closer than going jap.

Was going to ask you too, what did you stick your rear lights back together with? I gots plans ;)

lol Maz?

Is that short for Martin?

Yeah Gav, something you said.

Actually I've already put a downpayment on my next car, she's a beast.

G-reg 1.3l Mkii Polo coupe special edition ;)

Drove it today and she's a beaut. Bit ropey after the LCR though, the brakes are made of chocolate!

Another 'man down' form the Bitburg crew.. :(

still might be doing a Euro run a little later in the year. Mart if you fancy it , gonna try to get the original runners in the frame but possibly take in a different, more scenic route this year and not have the frantic run across four countries that some of us hadf last time to get back to the ferry.

I imagine it will be a few years before she gets the sort of power the LCR is running, but it'll be a fun journey...

Im sure if we all take it steady, we'll get there and back again ..
might need to get our respective heads together and think up a few ideas of where /when to go etc. one idea i have had (and pugsy etc have also said they'd like ) is something like down to the Millau bridge, but where before/after that, who knows. anyways thats all pure conjecture at the moment.

Enjoy your 'new' car matey, Im sure we'll meet up at some point , even if it is across different stands at something like GTI Inters, etc
;)

Nice, always been fond of these I really wanted a mk3 coupe 1.3 GT as a second car to save my main car, actually I still do but if i got one it would end up too nice then drive it less than the leon which is already my daily compared to the MNR weekend blaster.
What are the plans for it then?

hehe no mate it is dead serious.

I need to pay for a mortgage. The polo has 27k miles since new, one old lady owner. It'll need a few things done to it like brakes coilovers carbs and a new exhaust, but I have a budget of 2k and it cost 800 so not too bad. Sorry to bail on you guys, I was looking at seats, but I could turn around and sell this baby with the VW scene tax and make £400 tomorrow. It's got a reciept for every tank of petrol ffs!

Mart, it seems the way of things is to go Dub at the moment, Ollie, Dan, you.. only one who's completely dark-sided is Markie.. Im still keeping the dream alive with the green beastie as it p!$$£d its mot for another year.. if it had failed, i too was looking towards older Dubs. all I seem to do lately is look over the sales threads on Ed or club Polo , ebay etc for my eldest lad whos got a mk4 Polo .. hes gone after fancying a GTi, but the Scene Tax on them is ridiculous!!
