There used to be a guy not far from you but as far as I know he has closed now. Try and find a decent local Audio shop and they will be able to guide you the right way to make one or if budget permits get them to build something for you. Ask for pics (or see for yourself) some examples of their work first though. :)

Yeh think I might have to find someone.. I'm OK fitting things (fitted my new headunit and wired it up to the OEM bluetooth) but when it comes to actually building things I'd probably fail!

Going to have to wait a bit though.. Spent out a fortune the last couple months on headunit and ARBs!

i think about £300 is a good budget...i used to have a rockford fosgate head unit in my old car but i gave it away to a friend. It was an excellent cd/mp3 player but i dont think they make them anymore!

no bother - we could always do it for you but its a bit of a treck up the M6

Once you're ready let me know and I will try and guide you to someone nearer :)

based

We are based in glasgow.

If you PM me your e-mail address I could send you a picture of our latest Leon install in which we have moulded an enclosure into the passengers side rear quarter in boot. Looks lovely - even if I say so myself ;)

Or you could e-mail us at [email protected]

I cant post pics as I'm a new member - but will do so once its possible :D

Thanks

Iain

Creating custom boxes are pretty simple, I did mine by using wheel diameter and fitting the biggest possible box into the round space. Then to make the false floor draw around the carpet and get the jigsaw out!

Heres mine in my old beeza:

just finished fitting my sub and amp getting the wires in was a nightmare but made so much easier with the guide on page 1 . Top write up will reccomend it to people who are not good with ice installs like myself!

The cable should have an in-line fuse (no higher rating than the one on your amp) no more than 18” from the battery terminal.... Why should it have an inline fuse WITHIN no more than 18"??

just interested

Having a nightmare installing sub&amp. The trims are soo hard to get off, also how the hell can you get the the rear speaker cables (in the door) to cut and connect the speaker wire for sub to?

Cheers

don't use a screwdriver to prise off the trim as this will damage it. Use a wide plastic lever or proper trim removal tool (search Amazon or eBay. they're about £3-5)

to install a sub, it's best if you have an aftermarket headunit (Pioneer, Kenwood etc) as these will usually have a dedicated sub-woofer output using standard phono/RCA connections so you can connect the headunit to your amplifier with ease. That's what I did.

Hope this helps,

I still have nightmares about getting the trims off, and that was over 4 years ago! I used an old knife wrapped in electrical tape.

I wouldn't try and tap the wires in the door (i don't know how you would do that) - tap them as they come out of the back of the head unit, run them into a line level convertor and then run the phono leads down the centre of the car to the boot.

Hope this helps!

having done a few stealth boxes over the years in golf's and now in the altea , do have a look at the slim line pioneer subs really fab bass for a very shallow speaker & i still have all the space above the false floor free see my build thread for pix

i have a 12 inch sub in a 11cm deep box the 8 inch would make a great inside the spare wheel sub as it dont need much box volume to work

I know the sub is 50xs more powerful as ive heard the same one in my mates car. I'm gonna test mine in his on wed, and then his on my setup to see if its all wired correctly.

Soo annoying when you have spent so much time lol
