Hi, im thinking of buying a front mount intercooler

Firstly id like to know what size intercooler would be best. I have looked on the forge website but there are no dimensions. so if anybody has one or could recomend a size or anywhere to get a cheaper front mount cooler from?

Has anybody got any pics or is there a fitting guide or pics on here that anybody has done, eg has anybody fitted a kit other than forge which they have pics of or even the forge one so i know where to route the pipework

Where do i need to route the pipe work? And what pipework would i need.

Nobody else but forge seems to offer a kit, seems a bit pricey seen as i can get a intercooler for around the £100 mark then get some pipework to fit it up and make some brackets to hold the cooler..

Pro alloy do one for LCR too.It aint cheap but its a great bit of kit.Good for 300+ hp easy.
Id be carefull buying cheap intercoolers, could end up with something worse than youve already got.
The two main intercoolers available are forge or pro alloy, both kits come with all the required piping/brackets and are purpose designed for the LCR and fit without any issues.
Neither kits are cheap though but they are very good quality with regards to the end cap design, welds, and materials used.

Nev_LCR has done a guide on how to make a custom front mount with nearly everything bought from ebay, might wanna have a search for that.
On the forge website there is a guide to fit one with pics to give you a good idea of the piping route

Is it worth fitting one on a 235 bhp Cupra? I'm thinking about a bigger turbo in the future but will I notice any kind of different (good or bad) by fitting one now?

i would say yes and no, yes for the bigger turbo, and no do other mods first, (turbo back system, remap, hoses,)

it does make a difference, it keeps pulling higher in the rev range, i didnt think it would but you can notice it, where it would usually die off it doesnt,

if going BT in the future the pro alloy one is very good for above 300bhp. it has a straight through design rather than in/out same side like the forge that got restrictive on my car around the 290 mark

I have a full system with a racing cat on mine (understand that I will have to change the system when I change the turbo). Also been remaped and important hoses changed. It's a Cupra not the LCR so doesn't have the pipework there for a straight through intercooler so would you recommend that I wait until the big turbo and then get a straight through or would the same side forge unit be ample with a bt.

id wait until you get the bt and get a straight through at the same time. with the forge cooler on the car only made 290 odd running 1.7bar of boost. changed to the pro alloy and got 320bhp for 1.5bar. the forge was sent back and tested to 32psi... no leaks. so its more down to the pipework runs ect.

BT will need a freer flowing style cooler.

but to spread the costs you could get a second hand BAM (225 BHP) intake manifold (passangers side throttle body) and Forge/PA FMIC now then that will save the big hit when it comes to BT time

decide which BT you want first. DPJ i think has an lcr intake and similar pipework, Jamiebennet may be another.

my intake is the stock lc one, ~TB on drivers side. pro alloy do a particular kit for the IHI turbo fitment. i imagine this is what i have.

try to get a parts list off your chosen tuner, that will give you an idea of what they need to get you the figures. see what they reccomend. jabbasport may be worth a call ... i think they have possibly done more conversions than anyone else and know what works

i`d whole heartedly reccomend IHI turbos if set up right, mines been on almost 3 years without issue. jabba did an amazing job on the car.
