Got my car back (Big Turbo)

I'm currently running an Allard VT2 and don't feel the car is utilising the turbo as much as it could. However I'm currently without an FMIC and been suffering a fair bit from heatsoak. I think I'll be braking into the overdraft and buying my FMIC soon so I don't have to get embarrased by Mikey again lol.

Your car must be suffering heat soak like hell with the tiny SMIC fitted to your Skoda !

It is as when I first got the car and had a play it felt awesome but that was while it was still cold and raining. Ever since the sun's come out it's still driving well but it just feels it's lacking and not as much to give especially with the 25 degree heat we had yesterday. Never realised heat soak made that much difference. How much more would I be able to get power wise when I get an FMIC fitted and the map tweaked? You've run a VT2 before what was yours like?

Cheers

A FMIC will not add power it just helps to keep it when the air temps get hot. A FMIC will make alot of difference to your setup as you have a large turbo getting very hot sucking in alot more air then the tiny SMIC can ever cope with. Take it back to Allards and get a proper FMIC fitted now :ban: ! Power wise you should see about 220-230 bhp on a dyno depending on make of dyno, your car, weather .....

Thanks for that. I wouldn't mind going to Allards for an FMIC but they're slightly far away and wouldn't want to get one delivered as it seems a bit of a tight fit so probably best left for them to do. I'll be getting the Forge one as I've read nothing but good things about them from fabia owners and I've received a very attractive price from them too. Thanks for the advice and I'd be very happy with the 220-230 mark so looking forward to that.

Forge FMIC is good. Allards Skoda VRS PD 130 FMIC is bigger when i was looking at FabiaTDI`s FMIC ( Forge) when he was at Allards last.
They both fit the same but no doubt Forge is cheaper.

You are welcome to come for a ride whenever you or anyone else is down Devon way. Don`t think of it as a bomb more as a highly flammable liquid stored a few feet from you that needed a good oxygen rich source ( NOS ) to send you back to the future.... :drive2:

i heard this same thing about the forge intercooler, i am currently running the forge cooler and when i mentioned this to allards they said ti will restrict me very slightly for 2 reasons, one the size and depth of the intercooler and the second it its not making the full use of the intercooler having both the in/out air feeds on the same side, im sstill stiking witht he forge intercooler anyway just thoughi i would see what u lot have to say.

know this is the wrong part of the forum to put this but on the allards web page do the phase 3 conversion price lists include vat? just looked now lol and shocked myself at the thought of the price if not including vat lol

Sorry to disappoint but yes all Allards prices are plus VAT as stated at the very bottom of the website. The majority of companies now do this which is annoying but the way business is.

Sooty this game is never cheap.

Good to hear it's getting there Mike, will be even better to see it. Good thing you're patient driving all that way back and forth. You went to the scottish border for secret mods? Steve is crazy. I've ordered my FMIC, I'm glad but kind of regretting the decision a bit as I haven't got the money so really shouldn't be buying anything. Oh well I'll earn it back in expenses from work, just need to drive 1500 - 2000 miles to get it lol!
