My cupra has got shocking handling, tyres balanced properly too.
Turn off tcs most of the time, ive kind of got used to driving it but my main issue is when the back end goes nuts if you try braking around a corner !!

Its a totally different style of driving than my mk1 golf, which was only a 1.1 but you could really chuck it around corners! my cupra requires you to boot it, brake, and then ease into the corner and come out in 3rd to keep momentum and then drop it down to 2nd to boot it again.
Suspension and spacers are defo on the list!

this is aimed at no one inparticular but it would seem that how cars handle in different situations is a very big unknown to people. a big part of making a car ahndle is to first know what it will do under different circumstances and why it does that.

Almost sounds like a brake bias problem from what a lot of you are saying, but the narrower rear track deffinitely wont help.

Brake in a straight line, or be prepared for the car to slide ;)

Try running with some toe-in on the rear to try and calm it down a bit.

Maybe thats one of the problems with the Ibiza.
The rear toe isn't adjustable.

Had a full alignment (inc. camber & toe) done on mine a few weeks ago and I was surpised at how far out the back end was.

I think rear spacers are the only answer really.

Can't say it bothers me too much now, though. Can't say I ever really rag the car, just in case it breaks, lol (it does that a lot!).

see the funny thing is iv been in 205s and i feel the complete opposite! it was active, but u knew exactly what was happening, a real feel of control!

even my old 206 lowered on just eibach springs was better than the cupra on coilovers! if it had the same power it would leave the cupra for dead when some corners arrived

jesus are u serious?.... the 206 was terrible i thought, my mum had a quicksilver and i thought it was a bag of **** in the handling deparment, it would understeer allday long....and would wallow about on the motorway which felt very unsafe, i havent drive a 206 gti....but im hoping they are better?

they do understeer, rear dual torsion bar setup contributes to that, but they have good turn in and quite a wide track front and rear for the chassis. standard suspension is like jelly but overall its much better than the cupra imo. just more chuckable into corners. ofcourse less power meansthe slightest twitch in your right foot didnt change the whole scene as it does in a modified cupra

if the GTi 180 was forced induction, id have a 206 outside my house right now

The Suspension Geometry on the quicksilver and the GTI would be different my friend. :)

Really?.... what atad lower and more damping, cant see camber being that much different, maybe more rear toe on the gti possibly... i still thought they was ****, and when u say chuckable... thats tight corners coz u aint gonna be chuckin it into fast sweepers and flowing corners, so its better because its ligher with ponyless engine in it makes alot of difference alot of mates i know had 206 gti and said it was slow and handling wasnt a patch on the 205 gti... its like comparing a 205 to 306, i would say the 205 gti is more chuckable but the 306 gti is alot better on the faster flowing corners, i thought 306gti-6 was one of the best car peugeot ever made after that the rest have been ****

yeah was following that when the original pics were released but dont think it looks half as good as they did, also dropping to a 1600 doesnt appeal to me much (also its not a 206) :p

that was very slow speed cornering... low grip (damp?) to judge a cars overall handling from.

Was there any higher speed stuff? looked all 1st gear
