If you did have the coolant changed did they top it up with the correct amount of coolant and not just replaced with water!! (pinkyish) Very dilluted!

I totally trust my garage - they'd not do something like cut corners; as far as I can tell, and from seeing previous work, they do the job very well.

They do think it could be the metal "impellared" water pump thats an issue - they want to have the car for a day and have a look and see what the problem is.

Once again, surely doing something like this would affect the car in general and NOT just when stuck in traffic for 10mins+. But then I'm no mechanic and don't really understand whats going on.

ok - someone has had similar issues to me (albeit an ibiza)

It was the thermostat - can anyone else agree that this could be the case?

Is there anyway to test it, or do I just replace it and see what happens?

hmmm, seems to be the only lead I have at the moment, so might have to have a look at that.

Seems like a coincidence that the thermostat would go just after having this work done, but i suppose i may not have seen the issue before as the FMIC may have accentuated (sp?) the problem. Perhaps the new coolant and service may have brought it to a head. Who knows, I'm just fed up with all these problems that I cant figure out :( (other one being the car that always pulls to the left)

Hope you get it sorted didn't mean for it to sound like I was having a go at the garage! It's just I haven't long had my cam belt and water pump replaced when the coolant was replaced had a nice healthy pink about it. Best of luck.

on closer inspection of the fluid today it is definately red/pink. So I don't think it would be that anyway. But thanks for your ideas.

While its been hot, my third gear sometimes crunches, it seems to be if i rev fairly hard. Does anyone know what this means?
