When you turn on the ignition, 2nd click before you fire the engine, all the check lights come on. I think there's an ABS light amongst them IIRC.
However all passenger cars after a certain date must have ABS as standard.
Another way to test is hammer down an empty straight road and hit the anchors fairly hard, the ABS normally gives a vibration through the pedal when it activates, although this is much less marked in newer cars than ones made ten years ago, plus you will find yourself not skidding into the hedge if you have ABS.

Do what I did the other day. Try driving along in three lanes of cars all doing 70mph in torrential rain and blinding spray. Then indicate and move over to the inside lane only to discover that the cars infront are all applying their brakes. You'll soon discover whether you've got ABS or not!
Go to an isolated back street.
pour two buckets of water on the road.
reverse your car at least a hundred metres away.
accellerateand brake hard on the puddle of water.
if you get a juddering vibration feedback from the pedal then you have abs.

I would recommend doing it not only just to see if the car has ABS but if you have not had a car with ABS before it does shock you if you are not used to it!!

It does this as one wheel looses traction as you brake the cars ECU perceives this as something like black ice or aquaplaning! I THINK!! lol
312mm brakes stopped my MK4 PD130 doing that! I hated it, it does nothing but make your brakes worse!
Am I right in thinking that some of the clonks and thumps from the brakes when I am manoeuvring out of my parking space in the morning are the ABS unit checking itself?
Or is just because it's a SEAT?
It should perform one quick selftest when the car first goes over a certain speed (can't remember exactly what, IIRC somewhere below 10mph).
