Had an email from Mark about the power run and its pulled 10% less and looking at the AFR readings the engine is running inefficiently due to poor flow of gasses through the head, would assume the bends in the manifold are spoiling the gas velocity.

So looks like we will be going back to the original design which seems to be better.

Quite gutted now though because I have booked Snetterton and a cottage for 4 nights and if I didn't have the manifold messes with the car would have been ready, now I've cancelled the track day and last £50 :-( but I guess it was worth a try in the bid of better performance.

It's been a while, had an email from Mark saying it was being mapped late Monday. Then had another email Tuesday morning say its pulled 234bhp @ 8500rpm & 156lbs/ft @ 6500lbs/ft, very pleased with that!

Left the house by 2:30pm to collect the car and got home 12:30am, Mark invited me to Forge Action Day which came with 2 free sessions so I couldn't turn that offer down! Combe is the place I wanted to test the car as I know the track. Got home off nights Friday morning (06:30) and spent all day looking over the car & giving it a good clean, didn't even go to bed lol.

First session out and the car felt so planted, the power is amazing the engine just wants to rev & rev pulls well throughout the rev range and then I get to Quarry braking feels spot on the solid lower arms giving no movement and the rear doesn't lock up no more so the brake bias works perfect. Turn in and the car turns on the spot so direct, I always said the car handled well before but now it's in a different league! Credit to Mark he has set it up well!

Managed to chase down and stay with the Time Attack Astra VXR which is twice the power of mine, had a good play with a certain red Mk1 Golf on my 2nd session which I enjoyed! And then on my 3rd session I stated to stay with the Forge Mk1 Golf and I could see myself gaining through the corners but then saw part of that going when it came to the straights shame he pulled in because a few laps on could have been interesting! Managed another 2 sessions but cut my 5th short because a bolt on my gear shifter started to come loose and I didn't want to damage the thread.

To sum it up, the engine is pulling very well sounds amazing at 8500rpm and the cars handling is unbelievable! The months of work I put in and the work Saxon Motorsport & Powerspeed has really paid off, if you guys read this Thank you!!

Also thanks to Alex at Forge for giving me a free session, top man!

Great to hear that it's driving like dream on the track Dave. It must have felt like it was going to take forever to get it back on the track! You must be pleased as punch!

Very happy with how it performance and the amount of interest in the car since Combe has been mad! Just glad to have it back and be able to use it lol.

Need to sit down one night and book my next track day :)

Click for video

Here's a video of my first session since the suspension and engine work ;)

Bit gutted with the quality, as I did a movie edit with Microsoft Movie and although I selected 1080p it doesn't look that good.... It isn't the GoPro just my first go at the movie editor :help:

Stealth Racing was a long, long time ago that was when I had a cams. I asked about throttle bodies and he told me he doesn't do them no more because his neighbours were kicking off with the noise?????

All the work done to the engine over the past 3 years has been done by Saxon Motorsport

Also wanted to remove the registration plate, while I'm waiting on my mate to get a sticker for me for his company I've had this made.

Ideally this was a last minute thing as I should now be on route to Oulton Park but when I got the car onto the trailer I rev'd the engine and next thing steam coming from the engine and coolant on the floor

Turns out the plastic housing on the engine that the top radiator hose fits to had snapped! No chance in getting one till tomorrow if I'm lucky, Saturday is probably more realistic but either way I can't do Oulton Park.

Update of the strip down I had to do to get to the plastic housing for the top radiator hose.

All that had to be removed just because of one bolt on the housing!
