Took the mk4 to Curborough again as my mk2 failed its MOT, had a cracking day and I think I took 0.3 secs of my time. It needs some love now though, I don't think the rear cailipers are up to much......disks are not cleaning up and there was hardly any heat in them, plus the brakes feel cack. I'll trawl some threads but hopefully its just a case of cleaning the slide pins? Fresh fluid is deffinatly needed too!

Sorted the rear brakes I think, pads where fused to the carriers. Slide pins are moving nice and the piston wound back in easy. Just to see if they clean up now :)

Diesel and -10 do not mix well, all the way to work the filthy one was in what appeared to be limp mode (no CEL though). Just took if for a short ride and it seems fine again

Im pretty sure diesel comes with the necessary additives for freezing? I'll Vagcom it when I get home, im not sure if it will tell me anything though as there was no engine light.

Mines been doing the same below certain temperatures. Got a feeling there may be a safegaurd programmed into the ECU, which in extreme cases (this case running lean) sends the car into limp mode to protect the engine from damage. Only thing I can think of, as it goes as the temperature goes back to around -5deg.

Ahh would make sence, I had been searching the forums to see if anyone else had the same thing crop up, but nothing. With how bad the roads where that day it helped not having the boost kicking in.

Soft question, hence why its on my readers ride thread :) .....these 312 front disks, I'm ordering S3 items yeah? New brakes all round coming, along with a service before MOT time. Few other bits to sort too.......lots of moneys to spend!

I'd have thought they should be fine. I ordered Audi TT 1.8t discs. The 1.8t TT's have 312s, but the 3.2 V6 have the same 330mm brakes as on the Mk4 Golf R32. So if you wanna be 100% sure, 1.8t Audi TT will do you no wrong :)

Thought the TT 225 had larger discs? The last 312mm discs I bougt were for a 180 TT..

Also a mk1 LC 180 has 312mm discs :)
