I think we've actually done KingSala a favour, by helping him avoid the tragedy that is LED light strips, and he should actually be thanking us :D
To be fair his first post did ask for opinions on LED strips....

There have been useful suggestions - aero wipers, aerials, colour coding, debadging...

But seriously, ditch the txt spk, or people really will think you're a spanner :)

I think I should thank you both and I will stop with the txt mumble juble:p
And by the way my real name is Roberto, juts thought I would tell you all instead of you referring to me as kingsala and aimz av got say nice car :):p

what you think of this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TDI-TUNING-Ch...14&_trkparms=72:1299|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

YES I know there are £2.99 chips out there that makes the engine thinks its cold all the time and makes the ecu think it is getting more cold air ecy but this sounds as tho its it genuine in it description and sounds as tho it will NOT effect the engine parts ect.

What you think?

cheers:)

Look at how many engines it is "compatible" with, all for £26. This will be just like the others on ebay but dressed differently.

This is a joke really - you put a line of LED's on the headlights of an Ibiza (or any other car) and it's seen as, quote "chav".
But put the same line of LED's onto the front end of the new Audi R8 and it's seen as "cool"??

No logic to it, just goes to show, stick any old tack onto an expensive car and it'll still be perceived as "cool". End of.
It's also comical when an R8 drives past in the middle of the day (in broad daylight) with their lights on, just to show off their new headlight LED's !! ... :D

.........surely there's cheaper ways of getting a cheap thrill ?? :D

Thing is there not "stuck" on the audi as you say. There part of the design of the car. The ones in question, if i am not mistaken, are strips with slim LED's attached, that stick to the exterior of the headlamp. Cheap tacky shite. Chav written all over it. Its sort of asiring to be something its not.

This is a perfect example of my point.

Just because LED's appear on the Audi it's ok, as its part of the 'design' - so is seen as "cool", as they are featured on an "expensive" car.

"Tack" can be part of the design on most 'expensive' cars, and people will accept it as some great design feature. Replicate the look on a run of the mill car and it's seen as tacky or chavvy. :) It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

mhill, that's another great example - Lexus light clusters. ;)

Hi guys and Gals.

I have wanted to make my little 1.4TDI look different AND i HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT thing ( I Think). Do you know whether R8 lookalike LED's will be ok with the CAN BUS System i.e not pop up a fault or have a flashing coil light because you have LED's?

I was goin to connect the strips to the parking lights but am worried a fault will appear but I have got LED side lights and they have not posed a problem but the rear ones did so I have had to replace them with the manufactuing bulbs.

Opinions Please:) ?

thanks:cartman:

LED strips look cack and cheap. See them mostly on old vectras, audi's and bmw's. If you must hav LED lights wait for a propper aftemarket one.

thats because the audi ones are high quality and were designed specifically for the car and not some cheap crap off ebay that some one bodges onto their car as an after thought.

And the LED's are called day time running lights, they are meant to be one 24/7, just like how you will always have your lights on if you own a volvo. Designed to be that way!
