Bad news today

Think my gearbox/diff has gone boom

Was driving normally went to accelerate and there was a horrible bang from underneath.

Car now just bunny hops with a really bad noise coming from underneath which goes when you put the clutch in!

Oh Dear :(

ahh ****, not good man :(

LOL well it seems less trouble for my car for now anyway.

Prebs- I never got any flutter at high boost, it always dumps normally. The issue I had was
the boost level going: 19-20-21-20-19-20-19 etc etc on full chat. No chatter at all.

Just now I have noticed I'm getting a spike of just over 20 before holding 19.5ish. Hope it's not
playing up again.

Sorry Berg jacking your thread up

Emlyn

 I much prefer the k03s

The spool up sound is immense too :-o

If I could find a cheap enough K03s I would do it, although I can't justify all the money just for a few months before I go BT so may as well live it out and be happy when the serious stuff comes out ;) :funk:

Ive had a wurring noise for the past few months, thought it was a wheel bearing but it wasnt.

Thinking it may have been the box now, obviously on its way out and the extra power has just made it give up.

Just a guess as at the minute i dont know what it is tbh, in really think its the diff though.

Ill have to get the box recon'd yer money i could do without spending tbh

Cars likely going to be off the road for winter now and ill get other stuff sorted in that time.

It lasted 3 days lmao!

Bad luck mate:(

Its a shame coz of all the work gone into it over the last few weeks

When the new box goes on its a perfect excuse for a VR6 clutch & G60 Flywheel setup though ;)

Ive already ordered the parts

Oh and im picking up a bargain low mileage box today :)

Ive now ordered the new clutch kit and flywheel

Decided while the box is off to ditch the crappy dual mass flywheel and go for a solid flywheel instead.

ConversionKit1.jpg

Pretty much the same as the vr6, g60 setup

Decent price tag too :)

Smart, I remember someone saying they bought a clutch kit from Euro Car Parts as a kit after realising that their VR6 flywheel was knackered. Turns out the Euro one is exactly the same as the VR6 one.

You don't hang about do you.

How much was that lot mate? Whats the power rating?

Cheers

Lol really need the car back on the road as its my daily at the minute.

Plus when i had the clutch done 12 months ago i was told my dual mass was worn and could do with changing so 1 year later i dont think i should ignore it again.

Power rating im not quite sure, Euro car parts just told me alot of people have bought this kit after upgrading power as it can handle nore of a beating than a standard setup.

Cost was £230 for the lot delivered

Yer i read a thread somewhere on here saying its basically the same kit

Hopefully it will be all good.

Car is now back on the road :):)

New Gearbox
Valeo clutch & solid flywheel conversion
new slave cylinder

All done and running well again

It was the diff that was at fault, it was absolutely knackered lol!

For anyone thinking of doing the solid flywheel conversion, DO IT!
