eventualy got round to doing this mod... used a 4mm (internal diameter) fuel hose in black for that stealth look...

results - deffo seems to have better throttle response, feels similar to when i turn of the traction control

done nearly 50 miles so far and no faults come up:D

Done this mod at the weekend also, took no time at all.

The only difference i feel is that the throttle response in low revs is ever so slightly better but no different when up and going. The dump valve sounds a bit different and a little louder too.

MOT today so heres hoping it passes.

I blocked the pipe that went into the vac boc (black box above the 4th coil pack) too.

Dunno if it was right to do so but that means i have the 2 pipes blocked off, DV and Box.

AUQ engine, block off both pipes - wouldn't want anything except air to be in the pipes - block off the one that used to be connected to top of dv plus the pipe that was connected to the vac box(black plastic box on top of no.4 coil)...

the difference i've noticed is a reduction in turbo lag (improved throttle response)

Yeah totally agree, my induction kit reduced turbo lag alot i felt but around low rev range its a little more responsive with the n249 bypass, very minimal though to what it was at before.

Yeah both pipes blocked so i assume its done right as its doing what everyone said it would do.

Cheers

Dont know the reasoning behind this but that is normal, its more of a louder, shorter, sharp dump. if thats how it sounds that is normal as far as i am aware.

does anyone with n249 on lc.... get air sucking in noise on part throttle.. as in revs held and loud air sucking in noise.. sounds much different to when 249 was not bypassed>
?

hmmmh... maybe a split in the tip somewhere then.

sounds like darth vader all the time, on gentle boost and full chat

when i t dumps it sounds like a kind of turbo stall noise... hard to explain, like a splutter

The right way round I tried it the other way and it still goes chok but also sounds like 2 swords clashing so I guessed it must be the way I originally had it

Mine makes pretty much the same noise either way......some people say they get a 'ting' sound in reverse but mines basically the same.

James are you running yellow spring? worth changing back to green?
