Not a Seat, but near as dam the same thing!

Gone for the Owens beast for my Octy vRS, currently running the vf34 IHI which is nice and smooth, but i'm having (in addition to my current setup-see sig) the following spec fitted:

  • AGU large port head - ported and flowed
  • Supertech inconel/nitrade valves
  • JE 82.5mm pistons (9:1 CR)
  • Scat rods (20mm pins)
  • Baffled sump
  • Snow performance methonal injection system
  • 880cc (I think) injectors
  • Bosch inline fuel pump (additional pump)
Jabba will be doing a photo diary of the work, so i'll be posting that once it all starts.

Anyone with any experience with this set up please comment. It'll be either the stage 2 or 3 set up, not decided yet, but i'm hoping for mid 400's for torque and bhp.

Steve:)

You will look it , Running mine for 2 months and it is outstanding:D
Looking forward to Mike doing 2L bore and stroke then it will be finished
BTW I have a Pro Alloy intercooler spec'd by Mike and it is unreal, Temps are now silly low .

What size fmic is that? Mine is already quite big (ProAlloy), but the methanol should help keep intake temp's down.

What pistons do you use at present? OEM bore 81mm? 8.9:1 CR?

What is lag like?

Cheers in advance,

Steve

gizmo is your car still stripped out etc?
Have you ever done any logging with a performance box?

caney do you have the performance box?
It would be interesting to see what sort of 30-130 times you get.

I'm looking at the Owens turbo too for my Ibiza (Currently 360bhp IHI VF34 P20).

Which version of the turbo have you gone for? The one described as "400+bhp" or the one described as "475bhp"?

I see from your sig that you're getting 420bhp... is that from the above spec, or have you since gone aheaqd with the 2 litre conversion and/or other mods?

Thanks
Ben

Jabba do 3 versions, mine is the middle one (450 ish), My car made 420 but my mate has the same turbo and set (almost identical) and his made 450, My engine droped a spectech valve and is currently being rebuilt by Jabba :D 2L (82.5 bore and Eurospec 12.5 KG billet crank , ported polished and water meth , let see what it makes:D

Interesting, I didn't know there were 3 versions. The Jabba site lists one and the Owens site lists 2. If there are 3 then that's perfect, I'll go for the middle one. :)

Sorry to hear about the valve problem. Any idea why it happened (I've got some supertech valves waiting to go in)?

I'm planning on going 1.9 litre (83mm pistons instead of 82.5) and possibly the 2 litre crank. I've got a large port AGU head waiting to go on too which I've get flowed. Already got Aquamist water/meth injection.

I see you're running 1.7bar boost. Any particular reason that 1.7 bar was chosen? I'd heard that these turbos were rated as being reliable at 2.1bar.... I'm guessing you kept it a bit lower for heat reasons?

Thanks
Ben

Ok thanks. I have an EGT guage but Jabba couldn't connect it up when you did my IHI conversion... may have to revisit that.

Whats a safe limit for EGTs then... no point having an EGT gauge and not actually knowing what to look out for.

It is running 1.7 to red line but peaks at 2.1bar, I have gone 82.5 as i have been told this is the safest bet by mike.

Ok makes sense.

Do you have a power graph from Jabbas rolling road. I'd love to compare it to my IHI one so that I can see how much later the boost comes in etc.

Here's mine:
