I'm guessing your porsche calipers are of a 993. These were generic brembo calipers whose casting was made available to a number of different manufacturers.

Dont believe the monoblock ones do although as always I stand to be corrected

Have a read of this, the boxster S caliper is the same as a 996 Turbo rear except the pistons are slightly smaller onthe turbo. The dimensions of the caliper are the same.

so, forgive my lack of knowledge on the porsche brakes

the 3.2 boxster is the boxster s (yes/no)

so the rears off the boxter s will fit onto a 312mm disc with the appropriate carriers etc......

Yep 3.2 boxster is the S

Unfortunately the boxster S front caliper takes a 28mm disc so the 312 is way to narrow at 25mm the next natural selection of disc is the 28mm wide 323mm disc of the LCR and some guys did this with mixed results, the problem being that the pad swept area on the Boxster S is around 60mm withthe swept area onthe disc of the 323 being around 54mm. So you basically had to pick where you wanted the overhang inner or outer or 1/2 and 1/2 technically this then meant an MOT failure.

A much more elegant solution was the use of the adapted 330x28 mm of the alfa brera this had a swept area of 65mm and also gave you the benefit of being about 10mm taller than ther standard 312/323 discs which largely negated the need for a spacer cos the boxster s front caliper is fairly large (nowhere near as skinny as the 996 rear that fits the 312 disc) on that link above you 'll be able to see guys using 330mm discs on 7" rims with boxster S calipers wih NO spacer!!

When using the boxster s caliper on the 323 discs (with limited success) there was always a 8-10mmm spacer required.

Another possible use of the skinny 996 rear caliper is an adapted spacer kit that uses very reasonably priced 325x25mm discs from another manufacturer. The swept area works and its the same height as the 312 disc so no offset issues.

Sorry about the long winded reply porsche brakes onto VAG cars is my sort of "thing".....

Never actually admitted that out loud before...................... :help: :help: :help:

PS just spotted the actual question you posed before I started rambling boxster S REARS will fit onto the 312 NOT Boxster S fronts

sorry to go slightly off topic, but does the nuespeed kit use the front or rears from a boxster (2.5/2.7)?

Neuspeed kit uses boxster 2.7 fronts with the connecting pipes bleed nipples reversed to account for the lead/lag.

had a neuspeed kit and its helicoiled aluminium carriers uses M10 bolts instead of M12 and very lightweight, possibly too lightweight. Didnt fit it.

Word of warning some boxster calipers were originally designed for a 20mm disc and wont fit a 25mm 312 disc, better off buying rears of a 996 as opposed to fronts of a Boxster unless they are new of course and you have the correct part number generally 2.7 boxsters had the correct 24mm discs at the fronts whose calipers will fit the 312

in other words BOXSTER REARS (ALL YEARS [EXCEPT 3.2 they're ok]) dont work on the 312, boxster part numbers begin 986.xxx.xxx.xx and when covered in powder coat/enamel paint the 8 in 986 can look like a 9 - result misery when you get home

Sorry to re-ignite this thread..But I was hoping someone could help me, I have a mk1 225 TT and Boxster 986 non S front calipers to go on. I've read in some forums that If I use LCR brembo carriers they will sit straight over the standard discs fine. Is this correct or will I need an ebay adapter?

Cheers

John
