luckily it was the fuse, i think with it being 30oC plus in the car the unit just got hot lol

Good luck with the Sorento mate, its a fairly early one of that shape so if you need any bits or manuals give me a shout as I work at a SEAT/Kia main dealer.
Got one of them in bits at the moment after the oil pump seized solid, pretty common fault on that engine, also watch the cat, had loads stolen recently as its easy to get under to unbolt it and christ they aint cheap..lol

Decat ftw lol , jake did you trim the head rest screens in your self ? I'm looking at getting some in mine lil one is getting older now plus they look pimp lol , any advice into cutting them in the head rest foam and where did you get them , oh and do you have to watch the same as what's on the front screen or do you run them off a seperat DVD player etc was thinking do they do some kind of splitter to seperate the signal , I'm pretty clued up on how they work just not how to fit them to the head rest and run the cables , sorry for all the questions
well mine was kinda trick lol,
the screens were free from a mechanic i know, he had taken them out of a damaged car, they had a specialist 8 pin lead, kinda like an s-video cord, so i opened the screens to see where the wires went, probed and then i spliced them, lukily it worked but splicng rca signal cables is never the best.
as for fitting them, they usually have a large mounting hole, so you have to firstly remove the outer case, mines leather then the centre section with the prongs for the seat, then the foam. trace the shape of the holder on the the foam and then use a blade to cut out, then refit the holder and the prongs to see if it pushes the holder out, mine did so i needed to chop it drastically, then you rebuild the head rest and cut the leather, corner to corner and fit it, but less is more deffo lol.
the last car i did, passat, simular headrest to a leon, i used alpine screens and they went in with no mods to the internal holder, but you can also buy full headrest screen combos off ebay, and then simply cover those in cloth.
my units do have a second source, but didnt even bother lol, but you could hook up a seperate source, but then you have to worry about sound sources or headphones lol

Right ok so I'm best of mating it with my pioneere flip screen I have freeview etc so would want that to work as well as the DVD , have had a lil look on e bay but not 100% what ones I need I want ones easy as poss to fit ie trim as they are then cut the inside out and I think some have a facia that covers the rough bits Lol
you need to cover this with a good few coats of masking tape, this is to keep any stray resin from staining,
I'm using 18mm chipboard for my front, i had it lying round - you could use 18mm mdf i cut a cardboard template then chopped it out of the wood
next we need to cover all the boot, i used ploy sheeting
now the messy bit, get some gloves and a long sleeved top at a minimum, a good mask is useful too. pre cut fiberglass matting in the shapes you need
then brush the tape with resin and let it go slightly sticky then add the matting and more resin, dabbing with a 2" brush,
i mixed my resin in small batches due to the heat.
once the first coat starts to set, or 'tack' you do the same again with more matting and resin, repeat about 5 times
when all dry, pop it out lol
i then trimmed it to the shape of the wooden front, sealed and screwed it in place, any gaps were filled with fiberglass filler.
test fit
next is to get the shape, re tape the area, and then use filler to get the shape,
and smooth it out, cut your hole then test fit

Word of warning
Seriously, don't use chip-board. It's porous so it's not airtight and if you put a decent sub in there it'll break it all apart. MDF or marine ply for boxes...
Oh and stop buying that cheapo Halfords fibreglass
because if that is thick enough to be a sub box it's cost you at least £150 Pete
not if your trade haha, we get it in at about £3 a can so not too bad,

i actually did the last coats on the bech but dint take pics haha, i wasnt going to try and pop out 6 layers of fg off the tape haha, thats just two in the pics
final update to the sub,
carpeted and screwed the box in place and fitted the sub.
finding a route from the battery was hardest, but got there eventually. fitted the amp in the hidden compartment and will monitor the temps.

thats a nice set up, i should have thought of that before sticking a fridge shaped box into mine! lol
i wanted it more to compliment the system,
where the standard lcr speakers are bassy the sorento ones are clear but lack bass, so its there for the background, it does pound but not silly lol, but from such a small box i didnt expect it to shake the windows lol

i've had loud systems, but prefer the ones that can go loud and still stay crystal clear, my passat had about £3k worth of stuff in it and sounded awsome, best bit of kit was the digital eq, worth its weight in gold
