No I'm not saying I never speed unless I'm on a track, but racing up to 140mph on the road is just acting like a retard. And yes, the time and place is a drag strip if you want to race in a straight line, or a circuit for non-straight line looning.

Ok, I can't see where you are going with this, but I'll play along.

I have taken a car I owned, with a few friends, to a RWYB meet at Santa Pod and ran it a few times up the strip. I didn't do it again because I find there are other things I enjoy more - i.e. track days.

My views - for what they are worth

I drive like a d*ck some of the time. No where near as dangerous as a few of my friends, but when i'm in the mood I put my foot down. I have also (not for a few years now) raced cars off the lights. Its not something I brag about - but i'm not going to have ago at this guy, because its something that not all, but alot of us do.

As far as beating M5's, I think its completly possable. Whilst mucking about with the ex GF at the lights once, her 1.4 polo got infront of my 2.0 16v Ibiza (I suck)

At santa pod I beat a WRX scooby over the 1/4 in the ibiza

We are not talking about 2 pro drivers\racers here - we are talking about 2 chumps having a blast from the traffic lights - anythings possible.

so uve spent an extra 5-10k buying an r that uses twice as much petrol for no reason at all then.

No. I bought the LCR in October for my wife to use during the week because she wanted a new car, and I wanted something reasonably sensible to run that we would both enjoy driving if we are out together at the weekend. I'm sure a 1.6/1.4 Leon is a perfectly capable car, its just not the one I wanted.

My BM is the tool I use that drinks 3 times more petrol than something else could do on the daily run to work. However, its also the car I have used for track days for the last 2 years. Previous to that it was a modified Mk1 Golf.

Either way, the point of the criticism put in your direction is not what you drive (for that I appluade you), but the manner in which you wish to drive it on the road, then publish on a public forum.

fair enough, i just dont see y u would bother to buy an lcr without the intent of driving it fast?
i am also guessing by the fact u have a wife that you are allot older than me, did u not race on the roads or break the speed limits when u were my age ? (19)

that big lotto winning chav could... anyway, anyone can get a bank loan to buy a car - it's only a SEAT! Mind you, i imagine it looks very impressive when all your mates are driving Saxo's.

I'm 27. And no, I didn't race. Possibly because a friend was killed driving like a moron when we were 17 and our group of friends were taking our tests. Trouble is, he didn't just kill himself, he took with him the other lad in the car and the poor unfortunate who was coming the other way.

I do like speed, I do like going fast - otherwise I wouldn't spunk the majority of my salary on two quick cars and a fast motorbike. I am just a lot more selective on where and when I choose to exercise loony-ness. You can drive fast, but I consider (and I know I'm not alone here) racing on the road, doing ton forty speeds is just stupid. There are so many unknowns waiting around the corner just waiting to catch you out. It isn't worth it.

Is there not somewhere else that u can take this slanging match instead of a public forum?Yes we all enjoy quick driving(otherwise forums like this wouldnt exist),but as was commented earlier there is a time and place for it!!!I have a 5 month old son now,so my driving is a lot more sedate now,but still like the occasional blast when in the car myself.

i agree with you there is a time and a place for driving fast, i just dont think you have the right to comment on wether my judgement is correct as u were not there at the time or place that i had the race. In my opinion it was safe to do so and as no one was hurt then turns out i was right.

I think we had best leave it there and agree to disagree, because there is no justification for it, in my opinion.
