OK well I fitted the reverse LED bulb and nothing prepares you for just how much better this bulb is over the puny standard effort. The pictures posted on this thread were impressive, but nothing prepares you for just how much brighter the LED bulb is in real life! :-o

To paraphrase someone else on this forum, it appears as if the sun really does shine out of my Ibiza's arse now! lol

PS - the bulb operated fine in my car (no flashing reverse light) so it must be an issue with the DSG cars only.

Sounds like another 'characteristic' of the Cupra. :(

I'm going to get round the issue buy taking a spur off from the light cluster and installing the standard bulb hidden inside the boot in a holder and then just have the LED fitted also. Hopefully this should cure the problem.

Would be interesting to see if any other cupra does it.

has any one fitted the leds to a 5 door yet, if so which bulbs did you use? there seems to be a choice of 7w or 5w ones.....

I bought these from ebay and when I tried to fit them, the bulb is too large to fit through the casing in the lens so you can't fit it all back together again! [:@] Anyone one know which bulbs are the right ones for the 5dr? I thought these were, but they are huge! They fit into the bulb holder, but the glass bit just doesn't go through the hole in the cluster!

That's not good... :( Were they the 5-door ones that Dan posted a link to? From the picture the bulbs don't look any bigger than a standard bulb.

Doh, I forgot to post the link! Yes, they were the ones that I was told about earlier in the thread - but I bought ones that specifically stated Ibiza in the title. Here is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350458872082 - they are huge chunky things - I think the bulb circumference is bigger as the casing wouldn't go back on over it. Unless it's me having a girly moment, but when I put the original bulb back in everything went back together straight away.

You have to be careful.
The bulb part of an R10W is not much larger than the base. I've not taken mine apart so don't know how much larger the hole is than the bulb part of the standard lamp.

This one:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-1156-Ba15s-Cree-Q5-High-Power-7W-LED-Reverse-Lights-/220819571615

- claims to be 20 mm diameter. I'm pretty sure that is bigger than an R10W but don't have one to hand to measure. Is this the one you bought CandyWight?

This one:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-Q5-P...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5198fa0112

- looks even bigger but I can't see a statement of the diameter.

That is the one I bought - just measured it and it's 14mm diameter. It just doesn't fit through the hole in the casing so you can't put everything back together. Gonna have to send them back as they are not worth keeping at that price if I can't even use them! Maybe the ones in that first link you gave me would be better. So disappointed as I was looking forward to having some visibility behind when parking on my drive tonight!

I'm not sure - it wasn't going through the hole and I wasn't about to force it! I don't have the tools for cutting the cluster, unfortunately. I thought maybe it was me not being confident enough to get the cluster and lens back together, but as soon as I put the original bulb back in it went together so easily, so I know that the bulb just isn't gonna fit in there! Still, I am encouraged by the fact that I managed to dismantle it and reassemble without any help from a man, lol!! I think I may dismantle it again and measure the bulb that is in there just to make sure I get the right size next time!

Candywight's thread about her reverse light problem had this reply which seems to indicate success with a 5 door ibiza with CREE bulbs... Probably the car has a manual box, not DSG.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3761879&postcount=3

seen that, but the seller seem to be on holiday, (Has everyone bought bloody the things!;) )
The DSG problem isn't too much of a worry, 1.6 tdi st, but was trying to see if 5w was good enough, but now there seems to be a small hitch with the diameter.....

...but thanks for the heads up
