How long does an OEM exhaust normally last for out of interest? Are they stainless steel throughout or is that just the oval at the end?

How much is a full OEM system?

TIA

Mine lasted 4 years and 90,000 miles and the back box was just starting to got through, IMHO, however the MOT centre that passed it two week's before thought otherwise, though.

it is only the exhaust tail pipe that is stainless as far as i know but you are looking at 400+ for a full oem system thats why the majority of people go for an aftermarket system once the standard one is goosed.

Well I'm only at 27000 ish !! :D

But my approach to pretty much everything will be this: "If it breaks replace with better than OEM kit" !! :D

Does anyone actually do a FULL stainless steel system? I mean a rust proof, bomb proof sucker.

And if they don't is it weight related ?

The backbox is double skinned though, even if the first layer breaks it's still good.

Mines 5 years old, and done 35k and still ok, I'm of the same opinion as colonelk, if it dies i'll replace it with a proper stainless item, miltek/magnex etc,

It all boils down to short journeys will kill it quicker than anything as it doesn't get up to temp, and the condensation rots it from the inside..

mines 4 years with 90k and still ok..

I'm unsure about the engine management light with a aftermarket exhaust though? for an example take blueflame, if I replace the OEM full system with a blueflame exhaust system will I get error codes all the time as all aftermarket exhaust don't have the connections for the exhaust censors?

Most aftermarket ones DO have sensor bosses.

You might be thinking of engine light/error code that can come up with race cats - stage 2 code usually disables the second sensor to stop this light. Check with your mapper though.
