Cheers lads. Believe it or not, it really isnt that sooty no more. Not to the extent where it will cover people walking on the pavement.

New exhaust has really helped to disperse what soot there actually is, which is part of the reason I wanted it.

Wanted to do something a bit different, so thought sod it, side exit exhaust!

My exhaust now consists of the Darkside Developments 3" downpipe, into a 2.5" side exit. The downpipe narrows anyway, and 2.5" cat-back is more than adequate. Opted for a small mid box in there too, just to take the edge off the exhaust note.

That's awesome!

Have you covered anyone at a bust stop in soot yet?

That side exhaust is awesome haha. Sounds like a beaut for a diesel aswell.
Remember this from the recent GTi Fest. Got some pics of it ;)

As a lot will know, since i first fitted a slightly bigger turbo, I've had nothing but trouble with top engine mounts.

Over the last year or so, I've been through 7 or 8. Up until recently, I've had no option other than making do, and replacing as i break them. Luckily Vibratechnics now offer an uprated part, so straight away, i got one ordered.

Set about changing to my new one today. When i got the old mount out, I was greated by this:

The mounting plate at the bottom, is supposed to sit flat. I've broken these mounts various other ways, but never like this! Its somehow managed to twist and bend the plate, and the hydraulic damping in the mount is gone too.

Anyway, the new part:

The mounting plate on the Vibratechnics unit is much more substantial. At a glance it appears to be 6mm+ thick, as opposed to the 3mm- of the standard mount. The mount itself is purely rubber, meaning no more issues with the damping going either. Not driven the car yet, but once I have, I'll report back on any differences, and also any negatives to it.

Also got a new rear valance to get rid of the exhaust cut out.
