VW TDi Emissions software scandal

Driving behind 4-5 year old diesel cars regardless of brand and model is always a disgusting experience which necessitates turning the recirculation on. All those cars have initially passed emission tests, some of them fairly (without a cheating software), yet they deteriorate with time to a point where they become a factor for serious lung issues. How long until we realize diesel cars should be banned? I am serious. I understand people with high mileage like them but should this come at the price of our health? Food for thought.

Lets ban everything and live on salads, chicken and water, we would all live forever. Not saying you are wrong but most thing in life are bad for the human race.

If they put the cars to the settings they are supposed to be to meet legal requirement , would that not mean owners would HAVE to take it to get fixed ?

63 plate, 'CUPA' engine, not affected.

Perhaps those who find out they ARE affected could post their engine code, to see if it really is just by engine code or if there are other factors we don't know about...?

Wikipedia reckons that's a 2.0 TDI CR DPF 110 kW/ 150PS engine.

It's 2.0 TDI 150. The code that appears on the V5 is CKFC. Same code in the service book.

I have checked my engine code and it came back it's not affected also checked under the bonnet and it has the D P F filter that runs across the back of the engine near the bulk head .My car is 64 plate 184 FR .

Checked my mums 2012 170 Exeo and that is affected.
