Can't wait to see what they've come up with nilz

Maybe they will upgrade all of us with the EA189 engine to the EA288 engine... The 184bhp one(oh and the gearbox to)

I have a feeling there is more chance of me getting winning the lottery and then buying a house on the moon than that happening.

More than likely a loss in bhp I won't let that happen!!!

Yeah I have a feeling that I won't take my car back in if that's the case, also due to a missing EGR and soon to be missing DPF internals haha!

My dad has been and ordered a new 218d M Sport today and he was chatting to the guy at BMW about this with my car being effected. He reckons the guy hasn't heard anything regarding the fix but that the word is any compensation offered will be in the form of better deals on new cars.

I'm guessing this will only count on people who bought from Seat? As I bought mine second hand from a smaller garage?

I don't know to be honest. If you take your car for the 'fix' though it would be at a dealer so I imagine they would try and suck you in with a deal then?

Not if the SEAT information given in the FAQ is correct :

SEAT FAQ.

The models involved are: Ibiza SC, Ibiza 5D, Ibiza ST, Leon II, Altea, Altea XL, Altea Freetrack, Toledo III, New Toledo, Exeo, Exeo ST and Alhambra.

They are saying MK3 Leon is not involved.

Does anybody know if the 2.0 150 bhp is affected?

See the post from DEAN0 above. If you have a mk3 then your not affected. Also Seat have a tool on their site to check your car.

If you want to sell in light of the scandal, regardless of where you got it from you should still be eligible for a trade in discount. Maybe they will tier it based in age, engine size etc and maybe even make a deal based on the type of car you currently have. For example owning a Leon will get you a deal in a new Leon etc.

Reading the news today there are certainly trying times ahead for VW. Whatever they decide to do.

Indeed. Will certainly be interesting to see how it pans out. I'm going to see what they say before I make any effort to contact them.massuming they don't contact me first.

In all honesty if I was to take it back and they offered me a deal on a new car I would be seriously tempted.

We regret to inform you that the Type EA 189 engine built into your vehicle with the Vehicle Identification Number you submitted, is affected by software that may cause discrepancies in the values for oxides of nitrogen (NOx) during dynometer runs. Your car is safe from a technical standpoint and roadworthy. We are very sorry to have broken your trust and are working at full speed to find a technical solution. SEAT will cover the cost relating directly to this repair. We will be in touch with you directly to explain what steps are required. We'll do any necessary rectification work at our cost. Should you have any concerns or questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0500 222 222 (Mon-Fri 08.00 - 20.00)

Oh good... so... considering I've got a stage 1 map I assume I don't want them to touch my car?

I'm in the same boat haha. Maybe speak to who done your map and they might be able to help, I am going to contact the guy who done mine if I hear from SEAT.

Was planning to change my car next year anyway, after the facelifts are released. I would rather see what is on offer, in case I may miss out on something better than currently available.

After the VAG fiasco, now do not know what to do. My 2012 Octavia FL VRS CR DSG hatch (17,000 miles) is affected and my confidence in VAG. Px price comparison sites now indicate a much larger monthly depreciation of my car. With the announcement of the VAG CEO today, that software / hardware revisions would commence from January 2016 and be completed by the end on 2016, may be time to change brand of vehicle if I can now afford it. I do not plan to let VAG force me to downgrade, unless I choose to do so.

Test drive in a Toyota Auris Hybrid tomorrow. This will give me a direct comparison to my VRS. May not be able to accept the diffence in driving experience.

The new Prius has caught my eye + Toyota TRD are ready to release styling upgrades (have seen examples). Might sound dull but this whole issue has made me reconsider life`s priorities. Better to spend on things that give pleasure, other than cars?

Fancied a Leon Cupra / Golf R but now off the agenda. Rather be safe but not sorry. Sad that low life's are now spoiling owning a car with a greater fun factor. Why should I have to upgrade security of my property / garage / car, just because people with no conscience or morals may choose to take my pride and joy, by whatever means is necessary.

Toyota just as guilty as VW regarding dishonesty, but think diesel days will be numbered and now only driving 5-6,000 miles a year.

some people worry to much 12 months time it will all be forgoten, VW / Diesel here to stay.

Remember this I don't http://time.com/3555696/hyundai-kia-fined-carbon-emissions/

I was on the Seat / Audi website until 1:00am this morning! Heart still says Cupra / Audi A3 sportback. Really all depends on what VAG fix entails on my car / timescale / compensation for excessive depreciation on my car, which is growing . Then I can decide next course of action etc.

Why don't you just go in and see what deal they can do for you today. You are going to have wait 3 months+ for the car anyway. If your happy with a deal, disregarding what your Skoda will be worth in a few months time, surely that si what matters.

Go with your heat not your head. :)
