what have you done to your car today ?

Fitted a new spring and refurb kit in my forge diverter valve today.
For some reason the bottom of the piston and sealing edge on the body is slightly pitted so may replace the lot at some point.

On a side note, those of you that have these fitted. Its worth taking the piston out and cleaning it all in there.
Ive got a receipt to say my dv is only 3 years old.
And due to the grease in there going all claggy the piston WAS STICKING.
You could be losing power here people!
Worth checking anually.
Also its easy to do. I give it 1 spanner lol.
Check on YouTube if your not sure.

My turbo smart kompact is very similar in design. Although turbo smart say to install it so the boost pressure comes in th inlet on the bottom of the piston. When it opens the boost has to wait till the piston is up. I don’t know if that makes sense but it makes a nice flutter sound

I have oem fitted as standard (best according to Bill) but also have a Bailey rebuildable type (no idea on the spring though). But I also have a coldside relocation kit - no idea if thats any better or not.

So... looked up pedal boxes.

Choices are

1) floor mounted setup. Pros are it makes more space in the engine bay and moves the driver back. Cons are do I really want to go that far with the car and also additional work/expense to get the dbw throttle working.

2) Weld the ever loving crap out of the clutch pedal assembly and use something like a Compbrake brake bias box conversion. Pros - simple enough to do and way cheaper. Cons - no extra space in the engine bay n stock pedal location.

Choices, choices. Still, tracking sorted tomorrow and plenty of time to think about it

It's a tough one. I've never had any issues with mine that would have even made me think that my pedal was about to snap (coming next week - 'my clutch pedal snapped'), but then there are lots of things that have (I'm looking at you, foot of water in the rear footwell).

It might just be a matter of knowing what you'd do if it did happen...

Apparently the cold side relocation is tosh but gotta love the oem Bosch DV. I’ve got an old forge one with new internals and it doesn’t miss beat.

For grease if it’s a piston type get the red synthetic stuff, I used a suspension grease in mine to test it and it evaporated pretty quick

No work done but had another good chat with the guy at work who builds rally cars (his son currently pilots a monster of a 205GTi they built) and this weekend interior (of mine) will come out, there'll be some measuring up and a bracket made to relocate the shifter box inside the car.

On top of this he's told me he can fab up an adapter so I can run the standard accelerator pedal on a floor mounted pedal box so... yeah, looks like I'll be busy

Felt like it was gonna stall as I left this morning jerking about like a rabbit. Stalled, re started all normal. How weird. Has thrown 17705 pressure drop between turbo and TB. DV is due a service over the weekend. Have a second hand n75 on th way too,

Been researching about camber, caster and roll centre. can see myself either buying some adjustable top mounts or the camber adjusting wishbone bushes in the future. Would love all the adjustable track rods and **** though. Thanks for exposing me to that @Manic172

Would love to buy i cant justify nearly 1k on it for my spirited daily driving LOL

First off i need to reluctantly raise it so the roll centre is better and camber get out of the positive.

Having been up since 0530 at work since 0700 and dealing with a certain ISP (with one letter and one numeral in their name) for best part of 3 hours and needing to go go postal I took LCR for a damn good thrashing - now ready to face rest of the day

People underestimate the standard DV, the thing is a work horse lol.

Bill @Badger5 reckons the diaphram oem (other diaphram makes available) is the one to have as all piston style ones bleed or leak - What i'm not sure of is the context - as standard/map 1 etc. I would like to see some definitive evidence from a sheer curiosity point of view.
