Just replaced the rear brake pads.
Last pads fitted, Bosch, but with "made in PRC" on the box.
Sigh.
Inevitably, chinesium pads rusted solid on the caliper bridge.
Dragging brakes, and lousy fuel consumption.
So, as posted elsewhere,
Genuine VW lucas pads, price point £26 plus.
Genuine Peugeot Lucas pads, price point £16 plus.
So, being greedy & credulous, Peugeot is what I ordered.
and..................
they fit perfectly.

One set left from this seller,
mine were water damaged,
but that was the packaging, pads were fine with genuine citroen peugeot logos

Maybe, but metric fine threads have no buisness being used on aluminium.
Why the car industry does this, I have no idea.
Some racers back in the day, drilled and retapped their
aluminium Metric threads for Whitworth.
Whitworth is a British standard thread that dates back to the 1840's.
Engineering wise, it is a much stronger threading system.

One of the most common ways to strengthen them is to use a wire thread insert/helicoil with a more coarse thread. The coil gets much better bite and has more anchor power. Probably should’ve done a few more while you was there haha

Keeping a knockoff helicoil kit of various sizes certainly saves your derriere when it all goes Pete Tong.
Unfortunately you need to keep an assortment of stress graded coarse metric thread bolts
as the fine threaded metric repair kits for fine threaded metric automotive bolts are way, way, more expensive.

My current pads are Brembo. They seem to brake fine, but when I let the handbrake off when the car has been sitting a while, it's like I'm driving over something - like they're binding on one side.

That side is also the one that had the stripped brake bleed nipple thread. Fine pitch thread in aluminium... What can you do...?

My current pads are Brembo. They seem to brake fine, but when I let the handbrake off when the car has been sitting a while, it's like I'm driving over something - like they're binding on one side.

That side is also the one that had the stripped brake bleed nipple thread. Fine pitch thread in aluminium... What can you do...?

Not a job I really fancy doing at the moment to be honest... I'll have a look while I'm under the car this weekend to see if there's anything that jumps out at me.

Changing my fuel hoses this weekend too and am wondering what to do about this bit:

I don't think it does anything other than keep the hoses in place, but I doubt in going to be able to run the new hoses through it given how tight it is.

I'm thinking zip ties here and on the bends, but if anyone else has any ideas, that'd be awesome.

You're just showing off...

It's looking sweet as - super clean. It just makes me want to replace my front bumper for the Cupra R wide mouth one even more now. Puts mine to shame - I really need to respray my front and rear bumpers and correct the little scratches and things elsewhere - I've clearly got no excuses.

The bumper looks like it’s had sand. blasting
. Tiny tiny tiny chips but hundreds.
Think it’s due to a respray. It must have had years back. Prob not enough layers of paint and lacquer.
But thanks for the compliment.
It is still a great car.
My wide mouth is prob one of my fave mods that I did.

It's the same on both sides in the same place. The lacquer came off when I was pressure washing it. Caved the front end in when I crashed nearly ten years ago (amazed it wasn't totaled) and the repair place did a shocking job.

If the warm weather carries on, I'm going to take it off, sand it down and respray it myself. Blending on a bumper isn't too critical a job but it's the lacquer I need to get right - unless it's 2k it really doesn't respond well to the little taps you get and it takes a whole can to give a good finish that polishes up well. If I have any clear left after, I can just do the hairline scratches on the roof and around the door handles too. Then, other than a dent in the NSR door, it'll be mint.
