The red one is that? I'm probably going to have to do that one eventually, but it does look like it would be hard to get to on the turbo side.
I took my car out for a proper road test and it handles much better - the ride feels more firm and planted, so I'm happy with the new shocks so far.
I think I've solved my boost leaks for the time being, but I'm still getting some hesitation when I'm on partial throttle. I'll be cleaning the injectors and changing the fuel filter next week though to see if that works.
The way I see it, if I'm doing say 20-30mph in traffic, it'll hesitate every now and then. If I go heavy on the throttle I'll get a bit of grey/black smoke and then it'll clear up. I'm thinking that might mean when there's less fuel going to the injectors when I'm just pootling along, the clog is stopping all the fuel getting to the combustion chamber, hence the hesitation every now and again. When I floor it, that forces the fuel through, hence the smoke, and the overall higher pressure from flooring it means the engine is getting enough fuel not to stutter.
Hopefully that makes sense. We'll find out next week though when I run the Forté through. If it's not that though, I'm struggling.

Im off on monday so will take it somewhere for a repair. See if they try and sell me a new tyre like they usually do.
Thats 3 punctures in a year. Prior to that ive only ever had one in 27 years of driving.

It would off been if I had not changed all the pipe work

Decided to replace the fuel hose today. Don't know what I was so worried about - only took me about twenty minutes and managed not to snap the 'Mickey Mouse' plastic connector for the return line. Hardest part was having to clean diesel out of the engine bay when I forgot to hold the old hose up so it didn't leak.
One problem though - as it's not pre-shaped OEM hose, it doesn't want to route over the boost pipe like it did before.
If I push it into place, it does take the shape it should and I could probably hold it in place with a zip tie, but there might be a more elegant way of doing that.
I have enough hose left to lengthen the return line too, so it more closely follows the feed line, but someone will probably have a much better idea.

Replaced the drivers wing mirror unit as the mirror just would never stop just fold back , I've fixed it before but i could not this time, i am sure its that spring that gets weak over time and you cant adjust it to give more tension as that motor relies on residence for the limit, had too buy a pair off ebay 65 quid the passenger I've not replaced, also i did not know they were heated the elements on both mirrors must of stopped working as I'm getting 12v too the glass which i cracked on the original glass removing it damm it so no spare there
Set a personal record for quickest fuel filter change just now. No leaks from the hoses I put in the other day either. Sometimes I quite like this home mechanic stuff.
Filled the fuel filter with Forté injector cleaner and ran it through for forty-five seconds and have left it to work overnight. Looking forward to going out tomorrow and ragging the s**t out of it in the name of science.
Looks like I've got a slow puncture on my nearside rear though, which is a little annoying. Down to just over 20 psi after maybe a couple of months, so not too bad but still something that'll eventually need fixing.

I had my fronts done a couple of years ago and my rears are looking plenty ropey to be honest.i think I paid about £110 for both the fronts and given I'd pay £25 for a puncture repair that probably wouldn't do anything, it looks like I'd better put some cash on the side.

Took the car out for a "spirited" drive. Still getting the flat spots and jerkiness I was getting before though. Hold it in second or third gear at steady revs and it'll do it - though not all the time.
I've had a look around and some sites say it can be related to the EGR or it could be some kind of boost leak. I know one of the gaskets is damaged but thought that because it's on the other side of the bolt hole, it wouldn't affect it. I'm guessing any damage is enough to let some air out.
Thinking on it, it does feel more like a boost issue than a fuel one, so will get a whole set of gaskets and change them.

Sadly, im pondering on the same. Im going to look at how much i owe the bank and look at paying it off in the new year. As much as i love the sporty Mk1, my head is telling me i need something more modern and reliable.Needing a more reliable car for the wife to use I think my time with the Leon is coming to an end, that being said whoever buys it is gonna get a massive amount of spares

If i had space as a second car id keep it.
