Hi all,
Well I thought it was about time I made my own Readers Ride thread.
I've had the car since the beginning of October. I've wanted an LCR as it had all the things I was looking for in a car.
I needed to be able to get the kids in and out as I was going around in a 3dr Mitsi Colt which I hated. It was purely an A-B motor and gave no pleasure.
Before that I had a JDM STI Scoob but needed to get rid because my first son was born so needed to free up some cash.
Here is a pic of my old Scoob:
I loved the car but I wouldn't get another one as there as common as muck now. But it was great fun.
The LCR I ended up getting was previously owned by another member from SCN (BEN CTR). It's an 05 plate.
It's got a seatcupra.net decal on the rear qtr window so when I viewed it I had a good feeling about it. Usually when a car is owned by someone from a enthusiast forum it has generally been well looked after. It had full Seat service history and was in pretty good condition. Only a small crack in the front bumper on the drivers side and a small dent along the edge of the drivers door from a car park ding or something. Nothing major.
Here are the pics that the garage had taken:
Notice the broken drivers side air vent which the garage replaced. Also the missing clutch pedal cover which is on my list of things to do.
Overall the car is in really good condition. I originally wanted a black one but good examples are few and far between. Plus I was eager to get one as the colt had run out of tax and mot and I didn't want to spend any money on it so had to get some wheels. Plus my 2nd son was just born so I had to get cracking.
It's got higher mileage than I would of liked 84k but with the full service history I wasn't too bothered.
I then decided to get the cambelt done as there was no record of it being done. The garage said it didn't need doing until 120k as it said on there autodata but for peace of mind I had it done anyway.
I then discovered it had a replacement APU head on it which was a surprise. But again not too bothered now. Got it checked by Volkscraft and monitoring a possible small oil leak. But it's covered under the warranty until end of December so if it becomes an issue it will get sorted.
It's fantastic to drive anyway. No problems touch wood.
I also discovered it had the Revo S1 when Ben CTR had it which again was a surprise. But a nice one. I then sourced an SPS2 switch to activate it which came from another SCN member YIN.
WOW!!!! What a difference!!!!
So what will I be doing with it?
Well only subtle things I think. I've replaced the aerial for a stumpy one from ebay. I'm also replacing the wing mirror caps for black ones bought from Dave at Seremotors. Yet to be put on.
Also the front R badge has faded a bit so I've got another one.
I would like another exhaust. Perhaps a Blue Flame or something. But that can wait until next year.
I'm planning on keeping this car for a while so no rush.
I will get some updated pics once the shite weather clears up a bit and I can clean it and put the caps on etc....
Cheers,
Rich
