I spoke to him last year to help me solve some problems and possibly get a map done after that. He said he recommends a lot of folk get a 4bar FPR. I'm pretty sure Willie got one and he got a stage 2 map from Dave. I ended up going for Revo in the end so don't need it, plus I'm "only" stage 1.

I did read somewhere that Dave uses Stealth base maps and tweaks them to suit the car, it may be that Stealth stage 2 maps still have the 4bar FPR requirement (although that may not be the case at all). As Jokerman says the way to tell would be to log injector on time and calculate injector duty cycle from that. If the IDCs are getting close to 100% then it's time for a 4bar FPR. Depends on what you want from a map though - personally I tend not to redline my car, I like blasting up through the gears. Remember that you're stressing the engine, turbo and transmission most at the top end anyway, and exhaust gas temps on K04 1.8Ts get seriously high at the top end.

New Turbo pipe added will get pics up later

new double din sat nav headunit to go in , sent center console away to get custom made to fit it (wont get it back till mid august as the guys away on holiday)

ordered weitec 50/40mm springs/shocks kit today from dpm
ordered glovebox insert along with new LCR bushes and bearings etc for the front top struts

earlier in the week after stripping the carpets out to dry them up from a previous leak from a while back , everythings back in and smelling freshhhh so thats good , wasnt loving the stripped look tbh, so happy there back in :p lol

Sorry I didn't get the second log mate, not sure what was up with it. I didn't manage to get two proper ones using Matty's laptop and proper cable, ended up losing a chunk of data midway through the run.

That's a fairly healthy log I'd say, the columns marked CF are Correction Factor, basically one for each cylinder in the engine, the numbers are how much it's pulling ignition timing back by to compensate for predetonation. Ideally you want zero on all four but on a mapped car so long as it stays under 3 and only under load and at medium to high RPM it's not a big deal. You've got a little bit on cylinder 2 at lowish RPM which could be a sign if impending coilpack failure, tired spark plugs or incorrect plug gap - how are all those?

MAF readings look good (g/s column), your peak reading was 213.97 which is pretty good. You can roughly calculate bhp output by dividing the MAF reading by 0.8, that gives you 267.46. You have to remember though that that calculation works fairly well for un-mapped cars, remaps often gain extra power by advancing ignition timing so it's less accurate there.

I'll need to dig out the formula for calculating injector duty cycle from injector on time (column headed "ms") but from memory those look OK too.

Get your graphs scanned and uploaded, that boost curve of yours is awesome - no spike, just a nice, healthy value held constant. That makes for solid, smooth delivery, relatively low exhaust temps and relatively little stresses placed on engine internals. Most people have to put in a boost controller to get a curve that flat, Matty at Wallace said it was about the best one he'd seen on one of these cars.

Sorry I didn't see you again before you left, was good to meet you again, hopefully see you at another meet. Was disappointed I didn't get to hear that exhaust when it was on the dyno!

Well been a while since ive posted anything in here , 1year and 5months to be exact......

anyway not much of an update, just been running the car and enjoying ........
last couple months been pretty rough so a list of jobs that need done really........

Boost Leak (Not all the time, sets into limp mode)
Down on BHP (this could be due to all the other problems of course)
Traction Control Light stays on
Knock Sensor to get replaced and Torqued correctly
New Cupra R splitter , current one is fairly wrecked
Weld on a New Exhaust Tip , not rating the rusty cobra tip anymore

thats the main things , once the normal alloys are back on will get some new pics/vids up just to see the end product before it gets sold in a couple months then its moving on to bigger things hopefully!

TCS light on and down on power, I'd say get your MAF changed. The ESP system needs input from the MAF to work so if the MAF is shot you get the ESP/TCS light on and you'll notice the drop in power.

You selling up?!

i hate the f-ing MAF's on these things (i cant count how much ive changed!)

Do you think the MAF could also cause fault code 17535 (which is what i thought was a boost leak) which also puts the car in limp when it pops up , but if i clear it with the liquid gauge and its fine for a couple days etc

might try and "clean" the MAF again this weekend with electrical cleaner see if that helps anything

yeh next couple months (May-June) plan is to get some with more power and AWD so the options right now are...

Subaru WRX STI Hatchback

or

Evo 10 FQ-360 (Running costs is prob going to kill me on this tho)

or the wild card

MK2 Golf GTI (always wanted one, if i got this would keep the LCR while restoring it)

What sort of air filter have you got? If it's old it could be letting dirt through which is killing the MAF. Alternatively it could be an oiled type filter, they're known to kill MAFs too.

It's possible that fault code could be caused by a faulty MAF, yes. Can your liquid gauge not monitor airflow? If the MAF is bad enough to cause significant power loss and ESP warning light to come on then you should see some very bad readings through that or VAGCOM/VCDS.

Nice choices there :) Course, what you really want is big power and RWD ;)

Jetex cone , recently cleaned it and put a light spray of the oil on , however the neck did split slightly , maybe its just fully split now and dirt/shiet is getting in and ive not noticed will maybe have a check of that

ah right... yeh it can

haha , well ive been looking into the STI more and u can control the diff so more power goes to the rear..... so basically RWD :p haha

I've got a Jetex lying around, could probably do with a wash but it's not split. If you want it it's yours bud, just gathering dust here. Well, the box it's in is gathering dust... I'm not sure you need to oil Jetex ones but yeah, if you do then just a light spray.

See what sort of readings your LG shows for the MAF. I've got the Torque app on my phone and tablet, if you want I can sit with you while you do some runs in your car and keep an eye on the readings.

Have to say I do like the Scooby hatchbacks :) I knew a guy with an Evo X a few years back. He had a crap morning at work one day so went for a blast at lunchtime. Filled his car up when he left the office, cained it for about 45 mins and headed back. Had to fill up again before getting back to the office. Brutally thirsty. Insurance will be savage too. But if you really love the car...

this weekend had a check over the car - after cleaning the MAF and re-fitting no noticable change (however i need to clear and hidden codes etc)

having trouble atm keeping the TIP on at the bottom end.... making me annyoyed, think im going to hack at the heatshield, stressing the whole pipe making it want to pull off, and re-route some piping already there , was never happy with the DV routing, that will be this weekends job.

checked my jetex actually has no splits , must have been dreaming o.0

It may be that the MAF element is just shot rather than dirty. I had the same issue with my TIP, you got the Badger5 one, v2 or v2.2 yeah? I ended up buying the v2.2 adapter and swapped that out recently, seems to have helped. It's not easy to get it fitted right tbh!

got the new adpater, fitted at the weekend , such an improvment , brother hacked up my heatshield so that the pipe wasnt getting pulled up and flattinting the pipe at the adapter end , sits really nice now as well managed to get the piping to the DV looking much better , will get some picks up.

still low on power however i wouldnt think enought to say its the MAF , and traction light still on , ill have some more tinkering before i end up either buying a MAF or a traction control unit thingy.

other problems is top side of the turbo , pipe keeps slipping off the charge pipe.. its tight just weird its started popping off now even tho it has been like it is for a while , anyway cant seem to hold , so either i need a longer silcone pipe , or need to see if i can steal some length from the bottom to pull it up more.

second hand ABS unit purchased , hopefully get it fitted this weekend along with fixing the top pipe not slipping off! ....... full lookover the car , fix any tiny things also this weekend , maybe get it polished up if i get the time..........

then its bye bye to the LCR , will be up for sale as soon as sorted :)
