TCS light on and down on power, I'd say get your MAF changed. The ESP system needs input from the MAF to work so if the MAF is shot you get the ESP/TCS light on and you'll notice the drop in power.

What sort of air filter have you got? If it's old it could be letting dirt through which is killing the MAF. Alternatively it could be an oiled type filter, they're known to kill MAFs too.
It's possible that fault code could be caused by a faulty MAF, yes. Can your liquid gauge not monitor airflow? If the MAF is bad enough to cause significant power loss and ESP warning light to come on then you should see some very bad readings through that or VAGCOM/VCDS.
