Very pleased with the headlining phil.... don't know if I want it now tho after seeing a Mk2 at combe on saturday lol.

Fester the live cable isn't staying there, I'm going to cable tie it to the outside of the skin. The bodyshop put it there for some reason.

I did wonder what it was doing in there, didn't seem like something you'd have done given the attention to detail with rest of the car.

It's such a lovely colour when it's fresh and unfaded!!

Need a few opinions on my next idea!

Was going to refit my headlining that is retrimed in al..... (something) black  Looks lush and feels realy nice. But because of the material of the headlining he had to fit a chucky bit of foam and then cover it.

Because of this you can see the white foam on the headlining, if the plastic trims were going back into place then these wouldn't be seen and would like amazing! [B)]

But they not going back on! The roof isn't sprayed inside becasue I was going to fit this headlining along but now I'm not liking for idea because of how it turned out, it's going to be a right pain to spray the roof now because the windows and dash are in.

I've just come up with an idea of getting a black vinyl fitted instead, what does everyone think?

I got to pop up the bodyshop to see what I really think of it and I asked him about spraying it but he said himself it's goning to be a right pain and hard job to do now.

This is what I mean and from what he's saying it shows up pretty bad :(

Opinions please ;)

It's foam so a mattblack spray can would do to be honest,

foam will soak up most of the paint taking away the painted look and leave it black in the process,

Just do a few light coats and work up form there, Too heavy and it will just look **** on the foam

Can you not try and paint the white bits black or neatly trim them?

Cars looking very tidy, bet your itching to get he cage and seats in.

Yea but got a wedding on saturday and a local car show on monday, which I was going to take the passat to.

So it's going to be no drinking saturday night, up early sunday... miss formula 1 [:@] and not go to the show monday so I can get the cage, seats, harnesses, wire the gauges and brakes need bleeding. Then its go to the MOT.

So I'm guessing the main question is should I stay with the headlining and fit it or not.... I'm going for a track slag look but how many do you see with headlining in?? The main reason for keeping it there in the first place was because I had a load of condensation on the roof when I removed it.

I could get the missus mother to saw the edging on but the thing I can't fit or remove the headlining when the cage is fitted.

I will have a lil chat tomorrow morning when I go to the bodyshop, see if the bloke that he took it to could trim it quickly or the shop could spray the white bits.

Well popped up to the bodyshop today!

The car is finished now and the headlining I like but not 100% happy with it and part of me wishes I just had roof sprayed.

But everything else I'm loving it...... it hasn't hit me that the car is how I want it after all this time!

Here's some pics, the battery went dead on the camera so this is all I got.

Here's the headlining, would be more happy if he didn't cut out the bits to allow the plastic trims to clip in and folded the material over.

THis might be a stupid suggestion but here goes ......

........... why not buy the black trim pieces, get them sanded and prepped with plastic primer etc etc and then get them sprayed bodycolour? Would that look odd?
