No chopping, just some *gentle* persuasion.. and it was originally off of a Lime green Cordy Im led to believe.. the rear bumper was actually Bengal yellow.
aah right! I want the facelifted ones... 3rd phase ... read a thread about it not long ago. You can fit them, and fit thin pieces of aluminium plates either side in-keeping with the wheel arches... They are an improvment - Thanks Brummy for those pics but I'm not 100% keen on them either.

just had a reat through the thread, lovin the white dash idea, my gti is red aswell and i was hoping to go for the same wheels in white, lol. am thinking of a more subtle look with the dash, maybe a gunmetal metalic....

why thank you mate! I do think sometimes, "hmm ok - what have you done" haha, but hey - it's a first car! have a laarff with it I say! I do regret, however - not spraying them gun metal as you said - or silver . Seen a few with silver or GLOSS BLACK interior trim. looks sweeet!

looks awesome mate! I regret not doing it in Gloss black - wouldn't change it really - just emphasise the trim a bit more, add interest! Strongly recommend it ... Piano black, like my piano! Awesome shine to it!

ive never seen it done in gloss black, that would look very sleek, my main bitv trim (centre bit around sterio ect) needs replacing as a previous owner drilled holes in it to fit somthing that doesnt seem to b ther anymore, altho the 2 zinc screws hangin out my dash look pretty cool 
yeah I've seen some gloss / satin and matt black in Halfords... enough choice! ...just bought satin black for re-spraying my wipers the other day, came out well...

Right - haven't been doing much with the car really. Decided to do some things today - take advantage of the nice weather for a change!
Just basically managed to spray the panels I primed about 2 weeks ago, rubbed them down, rubbed down the filler on the scratch etc.
Bottom of the wheel arch that rusted a bit. Didn't want it to worsten after fitting side skirts.
Pleased with the boot so far, rust damage just under the window where the sun's catching the paint...;
And the cat also gave me a hand... Alfie;

I'm dreading the lacquering stage after 4 coats of Tornado tonight... Really nervous of wrecking it... really can't be that arsed with it.
Need some tips on rubbing in the overspray after about 2weeks, T-Cut will do it imagine?...

I was wondering what you did to the engine then lol, looks alot better lol, how are your cleaning and polishing the cover?
lacquering is the worst :|,
remember what I said, not to thick (drips) not to thin (dry lines)....it has to be perfect lol
and t-cut to finish it off, but some people say don't use t-cut, to abrasive apparently, I've been using some stuff I was given to by someone, no idea what the make is though, but I trust him seeing as he does paint a lot lol

wow thanks mate! A lot to do though, want to spacer the rear alloys, side skirts, 30 - 40mm drop I think, not too much and a nice Mk3 half leather Cupra interior maybe? With red inserts...

I thought your alloys had already been refurbished?
I don't think that t-cut will be able to get the drips etc out, it hasn't for me, but then again i did the whole panels, your doing small parts so maybe....
I'm re doing my door because of to many dry lines and a few drip marks, looks horrible, looked good before the lacquer lol, so I'm buying a proper spray gun and re-doing it

How did the colour match in with the rest of the paint on the car?? Im just trying to gather as much information before I go ahead and do it.
