What benefit does this give you? Sounds to me as though the DV opens based solely on throttle position with the N249 bypassed, rather than when a predetermined vacuum pressure is reached as is the case when N249 actuation is occurring. Seems like this could cause overboosting through unregulated vacuum pressures in the intake manifold keeping the DV closed during hard acceleration. This would put strain on the turbo and boom, there goes a very expensive component.

This is my interpretation only, so I may well be wrong.

Is this a 'do it because we can' mod or one that yields tangible results? Bare in mind that manufacturers spend millions on parts like this for a reason.

Not quite, there's still the N75 valve which operates the turbo wastegate to prevent overboost. The N249 controls the dump/recirculation valve, by ensuring there is boost applied to it to keep it shut when it's meant to, and vacuum to ensure it opens when it has to. This can be achieved by attaching the DV straight to the intake manifold and by my understanding, responds quicker than the N249 can.

after reading abit more on this isnt this resistor (330 Ohm 10 Watt) for removing the sai, n249 and a couple of other bits? i just want to remove the n249 so i can fit my coil cover so will this resistor be wrong for what i want to do?

I did this last night and you can notice from a cold start if you are trying to drive off boost it is a lot smoother :)

Ok tried this & revs at idle sit higher & no reading from boost gauge?

Boost gauge has been t-pieced from top of DV!?!? Any ideas?

Thanks

First of all brilliant guide with pics :) should all be so detailed. All seems very straight forward. Just one thing the t-piece on the n249, you leave with nothin on the end of it? Cheers

Thanks for quick reply bud. Spose it was a stupid question as that is the whole point of it :L just clarifying tho. I have forge 4mm silicone hose and 5mm hose connectors on the way. Will post up when done :)

haha yeah it gets rid of the pcv system under the inlet mani which are shite
when i got my leon swapped 1 piece of plastic PCV hose n it was £40 could of put a catch tank with hoses in for that pretty much, how naive i was! :p

Ahh gutted! Feel for ya there. Sounds good tho, where do ya get them from and what sort of price? Have you got a readers ride mate?

Loads to choose from on ebay. Also silicone hose is bargain on there made my fmic pipework frombthere super cheap
No readers ride. I really should do though as the mids are coming along nice
