Ok cool, did it work ok when you done it

Been meaning to do it I got to do the upper boost hoses so I'll give it a go at same time, might give me more room. Do you think a metre will be enough ??

I did this the other week and did notice a slight improvement on boost , it seemed to hold the boost better when putting my foot down!

Well it worked in as much as nothing bad happened but in all honesty I can't say it made any positive difference, not on my car anyway. I wonder if some folks with older cars maybe have older revisions of the N249 that have issues, maybe mine is a later one that works fine so the bypass doesn't benefit me any.

I undid the bypass recently to try and track down another issue. Undoing the bypass didn't fix the issue but I didn't notice any loss of performance, response or any real difference at all, so I've left the N249 in place for now.

I put the n249 back in place yesterday, after having the bypass for a good 6 months, same thing really my missus reported a problem which turned out to be a normal dv noise lol.

I defo noticed a difference, holding boost under full throttle and the dv sounding crisper and more positive. The car felt better without it if I'm honest. Mine is a early 53plate 225 LCR is your a late model?

Yep, registered December 2005 on a 55 plate. I might do it again sometime i've got access to someone with VAGCOM and run some logs with both setups but I don't hear mine dump even slightly when pressing on.

Great guide, it helped me a lot, thanks! I haven't tried the car yet since the mod, so I don't know what difference it'll make. :) I'm using a Forge FMDVSPLTR DV by the way.

Besides all the benefits, what are the cons of doing this mod?

If Im correct, the amount of boost will be the same, but the buildup and delivery is faster (and therefore more spikey) with the N249 bypass, than without
Hm, than I shouldn't be worried. :) Thanks!

The car feels better when accelerating and between gear changes so I really like this mod. I've only connected the original hose from the DV with the other hose I've disconected from the N249. It's really hard to find a proper 4 mm hose here as I've found out... But I'm not giving up! :D

It's a miracle! :D I've found some proper 4 mm hoses for just £3,75 here. I've replaced the original, thicker hose which comes from the top of the DV to the N249, I hope it'll be okay. :) I've secured at the hose connector with two small clamps, it should be fine (although the connector has bent a little bit, I assume because of the heat ). :)

Nice! Just make sure you cant suck in air via those hoses, it needs to be vacuum.
The connection seems okay, I've put a clamp on both hoses which are connected by the joiner, as near as possible to the connector itself. I could only use a cable tie on the top of the DV, the FMDVSPLTR doesn't have enough space to fit a clamp there. :)
