found a long standing hesitation problem yesterday, 3 exhaust manifold bolts finger tight, cranked them up and the car feels so much better, fuel trims are amazing after 50 miles on it today fluctuating between 0.7-1.5%, felt so smooth, i was over the moon, its took a year to get to the bottom of that problem and cost me around a grand in the parts cannon....... then on the way home the wife saw dripping from the front passenger footwell.....you guessed it, heater matrix leaking arghhhhhh f*** my life. started stripping it all out and got bored so will start again tomorrow, new matrix should come thursday.
That's a FFS moment for sure 😖

Wtf we’re was the matrix
in the black rectangle hole, its at the furthest back point of the whole dash gubbings, stupidest place to put it, the mk2 is so much easier to get to, in fact every other car its so much easier to get to but vw/seat had to go full retard and stick it so far out the way.

Jesus! And I think: how on earth are you getting to assemble all that? If it was me, in the end the headlights button would turn on the wipers

well the dash is back in, but theres something binding up the brake pedal, dont know if its wires trapped or the main loom, car brakes itself so not ideal lol looks like its coming back out tomorrow to find the problem, should be a bit easier this time as i have 43 bolts spare from the first time.
keep them in the car box they may come in handy for future lol

That would probably happen to me. ;) Braking for itself is a serious question. I guess it growed a AI.

thats dash removed and the problem was the main loom, theres a plastic cover that goes over it thats like a u shape, it fits around the crash bar at the steering column, it had moved and was jamming the brake pedal, my advice is if you ever need to do this job cable tie as many wire bundles and the main loom up to the bar before you start so that it goes back in roughly the same position or its a nightmare.

i ended up with 6 bolt/screws left and 2 small brackets, i know exactly where they go though and might consider putting them back in at some point, the places they are arent anything structural and the dash is solid without them.

what a job though, dont fancy doing that again. (let alone twice!)
