Had to laugh yesterday. Pulled in on a narrow country lane to let a car by & the kiddie in his little pimped polo hit a nasty ditch & ground his bumper on the road, suspending the front wheel in the air as the road had dropped away. Now this wasn't funny at all, so I got out & assessed his damage & got to work packing up the ditch with flat rocks to support the tyre. The kid was obviously embarrassed so let me get to work. The funny part was he judged me by my tdi Ibiza & age & asked if I would be comfortable reversing his sporty car (explaining where reverse was & warning me that the car may be a bit powerful so would I be ok with this). He asked this because he said he'd be stronger to push. 🤣🤣 I smirked & after building up the wheel, got in the car & attempted to rev the gutless car. After no success i packed up the wheel further & pushed the car out of the ditch 💪
Don't underestimate an old Cupra owner 😎

I bought OEM badges about 4 years ago and they look awful. Only the cheapo Chinese ones are available now, but I'm hoping they'll actually last if I coat them with Montana UV blocking external varnish

They really don’t last do they the OEM ones.
I put new ones on my yellow one about 2 years ago and they’re already starting to get white bits on them. I coated them with clear coat before putting them on too.
Think I’ve another full new set in my box of bits for future use.

Brilliant week end at brands hatch. . Had weather for it. Very sun burnt View attachment 49322 View attachment 49323
Fair bit of intrest in the leon.
Fabulous car. Had the pleasure of seeing this in the metal yesterday.
After following the build on here for so long and looking at photos of it coming together, it was really nice to see it up close.
Ben even let me and my lad have a sit in it.
All I can say is, it’s outstanding.
The attention to detail is phenomenal, even the bits that you can’t really see.
Great to meet you yesterday and have a chat after just knowing you as Manic172 for the last 7/8 years or however long.
Keep up the great work and I’ll hopefully see it in action on track one day.
And yes, it was hot! Very hot yesterday. 😓😎

I haven't serviced the aircon in my car... ever, so I got the ir thermometer out. 4-7°C coming out of the vents? Think it'll be alright for now

I tried recharging my air con myself a few years ago and it was a disaster - just couldn't get it to work. Will have to get it in for a recharge sometime as I'm just getting warm air blowing out and I know I won't hear the end of it when I drive up to the Pennines in a couple of months with the girlfriend.

Worse is that all the foam is degrading now so every time it blows, I end up with bits of foam coming out the vents.

Had strong smell of fuel/oil vapour at junctions, lumpy idle and fuel trims we're at +10%. Was the plastic PCV pipe that goes into the engine block with the horseshoe clip by the oil filter. Had snapped clean off at the bend. Tbf it was part of a cheap Ebay replacement set and I think it had lasted about 4 years.

Bottom intercooler pipe blown of snapping the clip then it turns out the intercooler end were it fits has cracked and broke away, new intercooler needed £480+vat and depending the pipe if ok but so far looks ok, probably been cracking for a while and due to age.. i was lucky i was not far from the garage i take it too and had a good idea it was boost pipe when i stopped before going there as i only just set off, no symptom's or anything just pop and black smoke then running crap

Sorry late to the party, been away for the week.
That car looks like it's found it's forever home...& It looks nuts! I really wish I could see it in the flesh & I know my black Leon would love to park next to it 😜
Well done to you mate, a proud day for all MK1 owners, but especially to you for taking it to the highest level 💪😎

Glad you found out the problem, a hairy drive when you smell trouble 😣
4 years not bad for cheap 👍

Alright guys.
Sad day finally selling up.
I’m moving to Portugal and they don’t allow any modifications and I mean ANY.
Sucks but cars gotta go.
If any of you know of a potential buyer, send them my way.
Truly gutted.
