So have a few days off, and figured I might as well start polishing my inlet manifold.

Took it off this morning and need the car wednesday for work, so need to get a move on.

First I cleaned it with brake cleaner

then started snading it with 280, and 400.

Its getting there...slowly...

On the second pic the injector housing on the left I haven't sanded yet. My thumb is getting blisters from the sandpaper lol

Tedious job, and to use one work to describe it: patience...

but will look good in the end

Little update, I didn't have the time to finish the inlet manni as I wanted, but atleast the start is there. It will make life a lot easier when I take it off in the near future to finish it.

Needed the car later this afternoon, and just heard my brother smashed his Saxo VTS front end, and I am the 'lucky' one to fix it for him. As far as I understand he wrecked his radiator, bonnet, front bumper and right headlight. Will see more probably tomorrow.

Guess I know how my next few days off will be spent... :(

you bet it is. its worse hahaha

but wel worth it imo. If you have a look at phils car, and myki's old one and some of the great looking leon polished bays, imo it doesn't get better than that. Beats spraying it any day I think...just a big hassle getting it there and keeping it clean.

Just ordered some bits and bobs.

2 x 63mm 90 degree silicone bends and alu pipe for the hose coming on throttle body.

2 x aero wiper blades (the luxury ones which mercedes have?)

and installed a new carbon airbox (simota) over the weekend. Still need to adjust the pipe feeding the air, which I need to redirect to the front by the fmic. Somehow I want it to run under the battery or something so that I do not have to go by the steeringfluid reservoir, as its not the prettiest feeding pipe lol ;)

but should all be with me near the weekend so hoping to fit Saturday or Sunday

Thanks burnsey.

I think I've spent a good 6 hours up until now, but not done yet. I've gotten to 600 sandpaper, and want to go till at least 1500 wet for it to shine like a mirror.

Best bet is to have the inlet off for a good 3 days to give you all the time you need.

Small update

I changed the ugly black oem hose from throttle body today. The 63mm bends I used were kind of on the small side making it quite a hassle but I managed in the end

Also note the new carbon airbox

Result (imo the engine bay is really getting there)

So I wasn't quite happy with the 2 90 degree bends on the trottle, so I changed the top one to a 135 degree one and it fits much better

hey cus,

yeah my DV and fpr are off the same pipe. I would like a dedicated hose for my DV but not quite sure what I have to do to do that.

The hose I first had on the throttle (90 degree) i have excess, however I am in the Netherlands so difficult to sell lol ;)

but the hose where too short thus not making a nice fit towards the lower 90 degree one. that's why i put the 135 degree one on

but yeah i think its looking good as well.... :)

whats the other vac pipe from the inlet manifold going to?? usually when the n249 bypas is done, one pipe goes to the fpr and one to the d/v

what size diameter should i get for the intercooler pipe from the inlet manifold please?? :p i need to get a 90degree one as my current one is catching on the radiator pipe due to my d/v relocation

actually its not true what I said.

My DV does have a dedicated line to the bottom of inlet manifold. It used to split to the SAI, but since I did the bypass the SAI is no longer used (i didn't remove it). I had an intermittend fault for it once cleared it and hasn't come back since, about 4 months ago.

I used a 64mm hose on the throttle itself, which was a reasonably tight fit (in a good way). I also used a 64mm hose on the intercooler pipe which wasn't such a tight fit. Got it tight with the hose clamp (or whatever thats called)

If you are still ordering I would put a 60mm pipe on the plastic intercooler pipe.

hope that helps

Oh but thing is if you're putting 63 of throttle and 60 on intercooler, then you'll need one of them to reduce, because you need the piece of alloy in between.

Ok fitted my rear spacers back on. Had to raise the car again. Really didn't want to but had to be done
Spacers look good though. make the tyre sit just under the arch
