Cheers mate! Finally know what turbo im running!

I knew it wasnt a K03/K03s because it takes untill 3k to fully spool...

Its running K03s software though.... would that cause any problems?

thats ko4 001 near enough ko3s not alot at all between them, the ko4 023 is very different, you will not see 280bhp out of this turbo, your running 225bhp because thats all that turbo will flow with no fmic ect,your need a fmic to see another 10/15hp and you wont get heat soak

a true borge wagner k04-001 don`t have silencer so it\s a ebay turbo or ko3s

Hey Tarzan, Im so confused at which turbo it is ... where abouts on the turbo will it tell me if its K03/K03s/K04 etc?

Get a FMIC and I will pop up and help you fit it mate, it will make a big difference!! it will only take a day to fit.remind me to get you those brackets from work, so you won't have to cut your front bumper as well.

thats if your going with this one, it will be good enough for k04-001.

hey mate on this pictures the left one is a borge wagner ko4-001 turbo the right one i a
ko3 turbo.
k03s turbo hav silencer like the one you have on your turbo. and some china kopi turbos from ebay.if it is real ko3s or ko4 it will have a blue plate on the turbo as you can see on the picture and the ko3 have yellow.the ebay turbo don`t a plate on it look at the second picture.that a ebay ko4-001

you can see it have no plate just stamped numbers not a blue plate with numbers on

As others have said get a front mount intercooler on to keep temps down, you'll definetly feel a difference.

sorry to drop in on your thread... Are these ebay turbos any good? The K04-001 with no blue tag or am I best keeping my K03s and recon it? ...thing is, think I may have just bought one gonna cancel if am wasting my money?

No probs mate always nice to have a new person look at your car Tbh mate if you've got a K03s keep that and have it sent off for hybrid Im either going hybrid myself, or K04-023 (Turbo off the LCR) atm I'm aiming for a pretty modest 250BHP outta my K04-001

Thanks fella... Is there a rounds abouts figure for a K03s hybrid internals fitted? Also, back on fleabay...has anyone got any experience of these ebay turbos with no blue tags and silencers? be happy to fit it and sort fueling/map if any good but if quality is pants will defo sack it off!

Dude have a look at my readers ride, my turbo is having the hybrid treatment and im getting it back this week. I used a company called CR Turbos, bascally you send them you old ko3 or ko3s and depending on its condition, they nfit the internals of a KO4 into it. Saves you having to change your downpipe and loads of other bits, so its a ko4 turbo but with a ko3/s fitment. These are good for 260-280bhp. Well worth it if you ask me.

With a hybrid K03/s turbo a good figure is around 230-250BHP i think mate, i think that would be a good gain, with the K04-001 your looking at about 10BHP more if that... (anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong ) been doing sh*t loads of research on turbo's these past few days.

Same as what I have gathered, the one I bought on fleabay is defo not a borg wagner turbo... cheap chinese copy, buy cheap buy twice etc, have asked seller to mutually end the sale. Gonna stick with K03s n recon/hybrid it... any idea on costings from CRT?

With correct mapping, and all the correct supporting mods in place these will certaily give more than 230-250bhp, thats for sure, and has been proven by others. Check out RobbieC's hybrid build thread and Benny's, with their airflow figures they are in the 280region for sure.

Spoke to Mark at CR turbos aswell and he confirmed that with a decent map and mods(full turbo back exhaust, fmic etc etc) this turbos will effectivley run the same as a stage2 LCR(KO4turbo). But in a smaller lighter Ibiza, the Ibiza will be quicker.
