My Mk2 Ibiza GTi 20VT Track Car Project *The end is here*

And i've got a box full of parts at work waiting to be fitted to it, nothing exciting but every little helps as they say

Mines back on the road and pretty much run in now (i'll update my thread at some point)

A few small updates:

All standard, non-tinted windows are back in. I also wired in the electric mirrors correctly and fixed the drivers window as it wasn't going down all the way

I gave the car a quick wash and polish today as it hadn't had one for 3 months.

I also fitted these:

I've got covers to go on them but i need to cut holes for the harnesses.

Engine work should hopefully start on sunday!

You do know that this isn't how you mount 4 point harnesses?

In an accident you're going to rip that clean off it's tiny securing bolts & headbutt the steering wheel

As i said earlier dude, i love it again. Can't wait to get it sorted now!

Also just painted a spare mirror cover the same colour as my wheels. Not 100% sure if i like it or not.

Yeah i know, they are only on there just to keep them out the way. They'll be attached to the rear seatbelt points until i get a roll cage sorted.

And everytime I look at yours and Rolys threads it makes me even more tempted to do an engine conversion to mine. . I just love the mk2 shape and my car is in great condition. No rear arch rust or anything.

If you've got a clean shell then its definately worth doing! I don't regret doing mine even though the conversion is now classed as "common"

It isnt totally clean, has the usual parking dings and stone chips but the arches are clean and theres no rust.

Im tempted to do a conversion now, even with and ABF lump.

I would of loved to put new pistons in, but unfortunately i don't have the cash to do it. The engine deciding to give up when it did was a pain as i had nothing saved.

It is nice bolting all the new bits up though

After a few sundays work, and most of this weekend, the Ibiza is back up and running

With the help of Ben, we managed to get it all back together pretty quickly. I tackled re-building the head, and Ben built the bottom end.

The engine was dropped in on saturday, along with fitting new rear discs, wheel bearings, pads and handbrake cables.

There's a few little bits still to sort out, and sadly some rust has appeared in it's 4 months of sitting. I just need to wait for the 1st of the month so i can tax it then running in can begin!

I will get some pictures up over the next few days.
