VW TDi Emissions software scandal

The other thing to bear in mind is that the UK VED (car tax) bands are based on CO2 emissions - the limit for this is the same for passenger cars for Euro 5 and Euro 6 (0.5g/km). The limits differ between the two for Nitrogen Oxides - Euro 5 is 0.18 whereas Euro 6 is 0.08g/km. Maybe the Euro 6 compliant 2.0 TDI 184 PS engine had to sacrifice a little on the CO2 level to fall within the Nitrogen Oxides level allowed?

Yeah I am glad I have had a couple of replies on this. Was making me wonder that although my car is clear there may be more coming in the pipeline.

Have had too many problems with the car as it is, to be honest wish I had never bought it.

Is everyone who is affected taking his/her car back?
I've been reading up and it's said that if you don't want to take it back then you don't need to?

As far as I know its only safety recalls you are legally obliged to conform to.

Just took my Passat in for a service today (it is affected according to their VIN check online) and there's no fix released as of this morning, anyway.

I just checked on the site and it looks like my Wifes Mk2 Seat Leon has a EA189 engine and is affected.

Its a 2012 1.6 tdi SE, so lets see what happens, all it says is that someone will be in touch about it with us.

This is true

Even though I posted saying my mate had taken his A4 in for the updated software!!

it turns out he is a thick tw@t

it turns out the update he had was because he was having EGR issues and a new one wouldn't code in to the ECU and he had to have an update! he assumed that it was the emissions recall

on the plus side though when he had this update they somehow kept his remap so hopefully they can do that for others

although I am in the opinion that no one NEEDS to have their ECU updating after all these cars have been working fine for many years just cheating emissions when they need to!

So are any mk3s affected then?

Previous poster info suggests nothing on MQB platform is an issue in this. Which is what I thought when it kicked off as all MQB is euro6 - or so I was led to belive at launch.

Not all MQB are Euro 6 but I believe all MQB TDi are EA288 engine type.

For any Irish members, here is the link to check ANY VW group car registered in Ireland.

And no, my 2015 FR 184 is not in the recall campaign, which I already knew anyway as it is an EU6 engine.

Nothing to see here people (at least here at MK3 forum)... Move along.
See SEAT FAQ.
Which SEAT models are involved?
The models involved are: Ibiza SC, Ibiza 5D, Ibiza ST, Leon II, Altea, Altea XL, Altea Freetrack, Toledo III, New Toledo, Exeo, Exeo ST and Alhambra.

That makes sense - they are all pre-MQB platform cars and would have the EA189 engine fitted.

Im pretty sure some of the early MQB chassis with 1.6 were still the old EA189.

Had a call from Seat earlier..0114 number, however they couldn't discuss anything with me as the car is registered to my Wife.

Will get her to give consent tonight and will find out tomorrow as to what is going to be happening.

Will keep you posted.
