Still don't understand why my euro 5 has low emissions and is cheaper to tax than a euro 6.

but isnt the default wheel size still 17. 18's always been an option on euro 5 & 6.
I dont get it - just glad not involved in the scandal............ yet

The other thing to bear in mind is that the UK VED (car tax) bands are based on CO2 emissions - the limit for this is the same for passenger cars for Euro 5 and Euro 6 (0.5g/km). The limits differ between the two for Nitrogen Oxides - Euro 5 is 0.18 whereas Euro 6 is 0.08g/km. Maybe the Euro 6 compliant 2.0 TDI 184 PS engine had to sacrifice a little on the CO2 level to fall within the Nitrogen Oxides level allowed?Yes correct - 17" is standard size for an FR
Euro 5 did not care what size wheels the car was tested with so the manufacturers would
use the smallest wheel/tyre combo that was fitted to that model.
Euro 6 cars have to declare the emissions with the standard fit wheels and also with the 18" wheels if they are ordered with the car.
