I've got both H7 & H1, and altho the amount of light you get from the H1's is a shed load more than the std bulbs, the cost & work to install almost out weighs it.

If you live in the back of beyond, and do a lot of night driving (like me) then I'd say it's worth a poke, but otherwise, just get yourself some good quality Halogen bulbs that are as close to the HID light colour as poss...

I must be missing something here, H1 and H7 are the type of fitting nothing to do with light output or bulb power.

If you have H7 as standard then you buy H7 HID to replace them with. The angel eyes from Ultra and FK use H1 IIRC. You can use either H1 halogen or H1 HID - if you use the HID it will not fit in the projector lens without modifying the bulb holder.

Stock headlamps will take HID without modification to the bulb holder.

What I should have said was I have HID's in both dipped & high beam.

The rest all makes a little more sense now I think ... I'll get me coat,.

alryt guys i purchased a set of hids from ebay for £40 ones on ebay as cheap as that arent really reliable u get a 2 year warranty but keep the original packaging of u wil have to pay 20 to send them back agen if the break

Sorry, but i'm really confused over this point, as I'm not fully understanding where this hole should be made, should I need to make it. A picture here would be really really helpful.

I'm also just replacing the standard rubbish bulbs with the diane-shop hid set, nothing fancy. Just an improvement in night vision.

If the above is a pointless, nonsensical, I apologise and please delete.

P.S - The H1 may well be done if I can understand this H7 swap out. I'm also feeling rather thick about it all.

You will need to make a 25mm hole in the cover plate that goes on the back of the light assembly.

If you've got your HID kit already, you'll see a large grommet moulded onto the cables, which is what goes into said hole.

It'll make sence once you get it all in front of you.

Shout if you need any more hints/tips...

Seen the rubber grommet bit, which is a weather protector by the looks of it.
Looked at the rest of it and all seems very obvious, except one small piece. In the car there is the wire controller that normally plugs on to the bulb pins, and i see a design flaw of sorts.
Once the grommet is in place, the red & black wire are inside that and need to come back out to be connected to the original controller.
Also a 25mm enlargement isn't strictly necessary as this will fit in the outer metal ring.

Finding difficult to explain so will have a go tomorrow and upload some pics of what i mean as the light will be better.

How did people manage to get a drill and bit in the non-existent space?

yes, yes i know now.

suddenly dawned on me when driving to the cinema.

Wish it had been said before, or was and i messed it, that people meant the black cap that covers the rear light assembly.
Will probably be a 20 min job now.

scared gf in car when i screamed with realisation.

Will still take pics and post up so it may be a little clearer stuff for anybody else, though I doubt anybody is as thick as i have been over this.

typical, i got a faulty set , cost me £30 odd to send them back registered post, 3-6day delivery to hongkong, so i guess i'll be waiting a few wks now for them to get returned, they worked mint for a night, the next day nothing

I'm not sure I want to disclose that information, Pat.

They're wired up and working, but not on the car yet. I'm waiting for a part to arrive so I can do that and the lights while the bumper is off.

And I think I should get some more sealant on them. I used black sanitary silicon, what did you use?

And on top of this, I'm not sure they'll end up on the car. Sine December I've lurked around at seat-leon.de and Patrick/schmpa on there has some new lights I wanna try, but not sure about the HID compability. Now our master Donald (RobDon) has bought a set, so I'm waiting for his verdict.

But good thing is, I probably now know how I should HID them.
