More progress with the intercooler today :)

First off i relocated the horns so i could get some pipework down the wing

Then i temporarly ties the new washer bottle out of the way
I have a bracket to attatch it properly tomorrow.

Then the car had to loose an eye

Then i started to get the intercooler in place

Lots of butchering of the crash bar :) it was soon in a pretty good place

IMG_5253.jpg

Then started to get some of it clamped up

Was worried on how tight to do the t-bolts up though as one of them started crushing the actual pipe lol

Map sensor in place

Finally finished my intercooler today!

The long awaited hose take off arrived this morning just in time :)

IMG_5266.jpg

Fitted to the hose

IMG_5272.jpg

Then fitted to the car

IMG_5275.jpg

After finally getting the intercooler mounted i then realised the bumper was a big problem

Cant believe how much i had to trim off

After getting pissed off with hacksaws etc i decided to get the grinder out with a metal cutting blade.
So easy to do and allowed me to keep a straight line too

Lots of chopping later it was starting to take shape

IMG_5273.jpg

IMG_5274.jpg

Then after about 2 hours of trimming, fitting, then taking off for more trimming it was done!

IMG_5276.jpg

IMG_5278.jpg

This shows how much trimming i did, took about 5cm off the gap and the pipe is still touching the bumper :S

Something ill sort out another time now

Lol yours has been a bit of a guide if im honest :)

It will be off the road till its finished yer, few days off work so i should get it done.

Crash bar needs grinding which ill be doing tomorrow now

Any ideas about my post regarding carbon canister? i know you've done away with it on yours

I got rid of everything leading to/ from it up to the route of where it was plumbed in, i.e the TIP and throttle body IIRC. The white pipe which leads to the petrol tank I cut off under the car, right at the back to allow it to vent, as you'll find it reaks inside the car with the pipe free venting in the bay...

Sounds good

Ive ran a vac line down to the bottom intercooler pipe so its venting right down toward the road

Will see how it gets on smell wise before i do anything else

Looks good mate but why diden`t you use a 75bend from the intercooler insted off a 90 bend? Then you haven`t need to trim som much. And some brakets from backdraft alex to move the radiator more back so the intercooler also goes further back:)

I did in the end mate, the 90 degree in the older pictures ended up going up the top as even with bumper trimming i dont think it would have gone on.

The pipe has been shortened now so now longer touches the bumper, got about 1cm space and looks miles better :)

Looks very good

Cheers :)

looks sweet tight fit !! plenty of trimming then :)

Was a very tight fit lol lots of trimmage indeed [B)]
