The jury was out on whether you need the very latest mib1 firmware for it to work. 480. Depends on what you are on. There was some discussion about the upgrade. As yet nobody has said its messed it up. It might be the root of the ambiguity of why people back in 2017 / 18 could update and others couldn't.

As for clearing the error after I don't think you need to. You need a coding device for that and that logic to generate the clear code. Anybody mib1 updated the firmware and was in necessary to clear the "error". The error is a flag set to say this unit has been updated. It's a Vag thing.
Anyhow if 480 is important you will have done that as well.

Thanks for finding that, my searches don't seem to find what I need. I'll do the update tomorrow but have to say I'm very nervous about it and not even sure it will fix my issueYou should find the procedure here

Other people have done it on the thread. You need a fully charged up battery and you can't interrupt the process.

The cars at garage for MOT right now so I will recheck the updated nav disk later and see what I need to do to clear any error messages.Other people have done it on the thread. You need a fully charged up battery and you can't interrupt the process.

So I still haven't got it working with the updated disks. To check the MIB2 disk I restored my MIB1 nav onto the new MIB2 card and tried it, that works OK. Checking the process I did before is correct, I just over write the disk with the updated map file then edited the DBinfo file.
Yes that should work. That is what everbody else did. Notepad editor. Keep the spaces in the partcode you edit in.
I'd edit it on the PC then copy over. Some small step, error missing somewhere. It hangs on the Audi part identity of the original card in the two places it's declared. So if it's not seeing that it won't work. We also used the identity of an older release on the thread as well when the original card got lost by one person as I recall provided by @Daz3d ... on the thread. Old mapcare trick that you can put in an old card and it works. This case an older seriel part number.
As I said before when swapping cards after changing them you must do the long hold on the on/off till you see the splash screen comes back up. If you don't then it will have in memory the identity of the previous card it's read, you need a full re-read. Same is true with the mib2 SD map cards. After 20 mins you don't need to do that. Perhaps that got missed out. Edited card in slot, force reboot.... & the card should just contain the map.
Sorry if this problem has already been covered, but I recently bought a MIB 2 High retrofit kit from EastYorkshireRetrofits and after fitting it the sd card with the navigation database from the old unit is recognized as “containing the navigation database”, but opening navigation shows that the navigation database is missing.
I contacted them and they said the unit is patched with CID turned off so it should be as easy as downloading the navigation data from Seat and putting it on the SD card, but that didn’t work too. Has anyone ran into such a problem?

Yes... some confusion if it's a mib2 high you bought then there is no map card, the maps are stored on an internal SSD not map card. To populate that you need this file. It's the latest, June 2025 release.

Seems to be from the forth week in April, although it tends to be up and down a lot with load issues. But down completely this time. The mib hobbyists have invested a lot of time in it and the mib helper web site links to it as do many boards. There might be other posters who are in the Telegram...

The resource section see below Mib2 High heading gives you a blow by blow account of the unit. You should see the life long fecs. They unit also has a juke box. If yih stab away at the media button it will show you jukebox. That's a mib2 high. Only the mib2 high has the jukebox on it.... ssd space used for sound files.

You need a 32gb standard sd card, fat 32 to upload the maps from that link I gave you. Should take 60 minutes on and above with the engine running... once triggered i if you do have a mib2 high. Here they may be talking about the cid but not on a high unit. So first do your checks that it is a mib2 high installed otherwise called a Seat Plus... in Seat lingo. Failing that if it's a doctored mib2 standard then a 32gb standard card in the slot with this on it should work but you need to be hard headed about what you have.

Unfortunately it didn’t work. I formated the card in ExFat as per VW instructions. Inserted the card and the car recognized there’s an update file on it, but opening navigation still shows “the navigation database is not available”. Do not update the infotainment system, we ship every system on the latest available software. The map files stay on the SD card, which stays inside the infotainment unit
