@Tell - quick question - is there any way to fool the MIB2 to "mirror" what they say are "unauthorised" apps on your phone in Android Auto? Mirror link no longer supported on the Galaxy phones (mines an S9+), and the app isn't approved to show from Android Auto, but would really like to display VAG DPF app on-screen if at all possible. Failing that, do you know of any way to fool the phone into accepting MirrorLink, as it will not install any MirrorLink apk I download, even the Samsung Mirror Link version. Thanks.
Probably the old Apks are being blocked on the Android update cycle of versions. There is a way of sideloading old Apks via the developers menu and plugging in your device (Android phone) into your PC / laptop and installing it that way. I did that with some very old apps on Irish birds and Butterfly identification 😉. They hadn't been rewritten from Android 5. Into Android 14 and migrated to Android 15. They were definitely not rewritten for later versions of Android. Was an Irish person's pet project on identification. They get the same as us but less diversity so UK apps would work for identification...

I'll look the commands up and edit in later. Its ADB plus a specific command put in for the purpose which skips the block. This would be usefull where you have the old modified app, think it was Android Auto which people had that supported Mirrorlink. It is Samsung Galaxy fablets I use. Worth a try if you have something that worked but can't install on a newer version of Android.

It's this one:

>>
Run the following command in your terminal/command line window:
adb install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block FILENAME.apk
<<

From XDA forum. I guess it works for Android 15 as well. It's a more slick way than editting the manifest.

However if it's an older model than Android 14 you might have to edit the manifest. That fools it to think its a new app. That bypass command came in later to be helpfull to developers.

Thanks, I'll do some research, it's Android 10 on my phone

That's mib1 you need to follow this

Follow people's success with this. Take a copy before you start off.

I referenced that in the resource:

In the end nobody to my knowledge hasn't got it to work. Eg. Everybody has had success eventually.

@Daz3d posts that one and after contain the ingredients. You need a 32gb Vag card to minimise hacking the contents about. It won't work with a standard SD card.

Not sure what you mean, but I had only private messaged the link I found to the MIB1 480 firmware update in case it was removed. Don't think I can edit my first post to add this URL:

It also seems to be here https://mibsolution.one/#/1/9/_pre MIB2/MSTD/SEAT (username & password = guest). The site has been very slow before though.

My backup of our 2014 Leon V4 maps is still here:

The 2023 maps that worked are P106_N60S3MIBS2_EU_NT (8V0060866S).7z on https://mibsolution.one/#/1/15/MSTD
im on right track but with mega limits

Yes you have to wait out the holds with the mega limits if you dont subscribe. It gets there in the end.
Look at me now 🫡 need other parts to invest in. Its posibole to upgrade to mib2std with this display?

Well you have mib1 2023 maps now. A lot of people did invest in mib2 who had mib1 at the time. Circa 2015 and on you will find threads on here. The board sponsor sells mib2 standard kit upgrades. @East Yorkshire Retrofits but pass of whether the screen needs changing. The interest was Android Auto and Car Play in some quarters. There are little AliExpress boxes that give AA into an existing mib1. Some people do that route.

Mib2 maps may be coming to the end of their cycle of updates although as seen a mib1 map update was released 3 years after it had got to the end of it's cycle. Mib2 high is throught to go on beyond since Audi was fitting them into TTs well after 2020. That's been said by mib2 high Audi TT owners.

Depends what you want to do. This is a map update thread. Well done for getting the mib1 map update into you unit and firmware. I did say every body had achieved it so far using @Daz3d lead.

For one thing on your Skoda which I think you have you need the equivalent to the Seat 480 firmware. The Skoda guy had that so got it all working. The map file it self was on mibsolution.one but is knocking about on this thread. I think so anyhow. I set you the task to find it.

See the first few paragraphs to the resource here with pointers:

I mention the Skoda firmware that is equivalent that needs to be used. It appears the same mib1 workaround which had been illusive for years for Seat owners works on Skodas. Historically Skodas didn't need this workaround so you could just insert the map file as an upgrade. The map file is an Audi release but tinkering with the header locks it back into Seat or Skoda units so the unit isnt aware the maps have been updated. It then reads the updated maps.

In some instances it was found on Seat's you had to roll back to the previous release and lock onto that. Thats a mib trick that any previous map release will work. How mapcare works. So mapcare is fooled twice to make it work. The edit map reference is then the previous release. Least I think. You need to study @Daz3d posts and everybody else's since then on the subject. Daz3d didnt need to do that trick but others did. It was where their release was after Daz3d's was as I recall. So using elements of Daz3d old files kicked it off. Old files of Daz3d, new map file. The workaround plus the firmware update.

As I recommend buy a mib2 map card. Test with your existing maps on it. Then use the new mapcard for your project so you will always have your old working copy if things go wrong. It also avoids having to edit down as @Daz3d did. Removes one possible area of issue.

The firmware is fine then. Just tracking those posts. @Daz3d provided the links ... just got to hunt them down in the posts. I'm leaving that to you.

Working backup from this post

@Daz3d provided the missing bit. He's the guy that brought the working solution here.

I've done the work for you tracing back... look here:

You may still have to deploy the tricks of going back one release. As you read 7zip was an issue. I'd update your 7zip if it isn't or use the built in Windows 10/11 file manager one.
